Considering this statement-

"First impression: The driver seat is way too high off the floor. A show-car compromise, Peters tells us."

Does this mean the seat will be lowered some, which in turn will create more headroom?

The prospect of the roof being raised concerns me. I'm hoping they find ways to maximize headroom without sacrificing the appearance...

EDIT- Now that I've finished the article I just thought I'd add this-

"Walking out with Peters, we ask the question he's fielded a thousand times since the Camaro concept's January introduction in Detroit: "So, are you going to build it?" Peters answers in kind, "If you were Bob Lutz or Rick Wagoner, what would you do? I mean, come on. After the reception this car has gotten…you answer that question for yourself.""

That's the closest thing I've read to date to a confirmation... Not quite official, but enough to bring a smile to everyones face I'd assume. :)

Um...

Read the "On the Throttle Section"

It says
"the all-aluminum 400-horsepower LS-2 V8 (lifted from a Corvette) pulls strongly."

Then below that it says:
"the 5.7-liter V8 provided far more power than we ventured to tap"

...um last time i checked, the LS2 was still a 6.0-liter.... that makes me really trust these people's information.

This is why you dont trust the media, nobody knows what the hell they're talking about, Only time will tell if they are making it or not, or what engines, trannys, and options will go in it. END OF STORY

Yes. But roof will go up a tiny bit as well.

I noticed that too. I was thinking that maybe the people mixed it up with the LS1.

In this case, it simply doesn't matter.

Neither engine will be in the Camaro you'd be buying anyway.

They will go along with what they have been doing in recent trends and make all the top models of the car the SS.

Which i hate to say (look at my SN) but i think it will be true.

From what I've read on this site the LS2 won't be in production when the Camaro is released. I'm surprised no one lashed out at you and told you "use the search because this has been discussed a million of times." That's what usally happens.

Monte Carlo? Cobalt? If were following that nomenclature then SS Supercharged will be the top model.

You know... I really wouldn't have a problem with a Corvette SS. Likewise I really wouldn't have a problem with a Z22 -- or whatever number they haven't used -- Cobalt.

I just want them to pick a nomenclature and stick with. Make it consitent. Only put SS and or Z/28 on cars that can BENEFIT from the package. The package actually needs to involve METAL, not just badges and seat inserts... If they applied either name effectively I don't think anyone could reasonably be all that angry.

This is bit off the subject, but I don't think they will be calling it a "Corvette SS". Think more of a "heritage" name.

NO Thats not what i said, I just meant that lately, all of chevy's premier models of each car have been the SS. Except for the Vette.

Why is that so wrong to expect. I mean you have the:
SS Silverado
SS TrailBlazer
SS Impala
SS Cobalt
SS Monte Carlo

Why wouldnt the Camaro follow suit?

And why would you single out the Monte Carlo and Cobalt to try and prove your point that it would be supercharged...when the majority of the other SS vehicles ARE NOT supercharged....thats really smart thier buddy.

What the hell is wrong with yall, i say one thing and everyone is automatically an *******.

Get over yourselves. Im going to be laughing my ass off when they come out and the top model has a big SS stamped on the side. But I didnt say that i was 100%, if thats the way it was read, then im sorry, but seriously get the **** over it

...we will all wait, and we will see.

The Cobalt SS Supercharged is officially dubbed "Z61". I have no idea why though. GM sells a decal package. Your suppose to remove your SS emblems and put the Z61 emblem in there place. It costs 111 dollars and comes with nothing but emblems.

I sure hope the camaro won't be like this.

If you look at the heritage of the Camaro going back to the 60's, Z28 was top dog. GM is returning to this.

But I wouldnt know that.

I HOPE it wont either, but assumption is the mother of all ****ups. So i dont assume anything.

lets just put it this way.

Look at my Username. That should pretty much sum up the fact that i WANT the top model to be the Z/28, but somehow or another, i dont think it will.

I believe this is more right.

3.9 OHV v6 ~ 250hp
3.6 DOHC v6 ~ 310hp
6.2 OHV v8 ~ 420hp
6.2 Supercharged OHV v8 ~ 500hp

These are all approximations on my part, but I feel they are close to accurate according to what has been stated on here. Someone chime in if I have left something inaccurate.

ooooh, i like that.

I would have a hard time deciding, but I think the 500 hp might be my mark.

But 420 sounds good too.

That would be sweet to have a V6 camaro that had horsepower similar to the GT
