96 M6 PCM into a 97 a4?

Have a question will my 96 M6 PCM (still has stock tune from the factory) work in a 97 a4 TA? What is needed to do?

turn of vats I think.

Have it reflashed by a tuner, or take it to a dealer with a 97 A4 VIN number and have them reflash it. The car will not shift otherwise and will probably set some codes too.
