ok, i just got a 99 z and it had a loud squeal, i thought it was the belt, replaced it and it went away, but i drove about 5 miles and it jumped off, so i thought i didnt put it on right, put it back on, and it jumped off again. everything looks to be inline, but it kinda looks like my crank pulley (harmonic balancer) it wobbling just a little, could that be the prob. or is it ok for them to wobble a little, it feels tight. oh the old belt stays on but squeals really loud!!

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

wobbling? the crank pulley should not be wobbling at all.

take the belt off.

with your hand, turn every pulley on the engine and listen for some squeaking or rough spinning. they should each spin smoothly with no grinding feeling. you can turn all the pulleys with your hand except for the crank. a pulley bearing (alternator, tensioner, idler, power steering pump, water pump) could be going out and wont take long for it to lock up, then you are really stranded. disregard the a/c compressor because it runs on its own little belt.

i was going to say that the tensioner was probably showing its age, but the crank pulley should not wobble under any circumstance - i hope your eyes are just playing tricks on you

check all the pulleys for squeaks and resistance with the belt off as stated above...then go from there
