1997 V6 clutch hydraulic hose removal

I'm doing a clutch job on a 1997 V6 F-body & can't figure out how the line to the hydraulic throwout comes loose at the tranny. Is there a trick or is some type of special tool needed?

Any help is appreciated.

Deleted from the V6 secion & re-posted here.

Re: 1997 V6 clutch hydraulic hose removal

I guess either:
1) No one else's clutch has ever worn out or
2) If one did, they found out who was responsible for the fitting design & killed the designer and are currently in prison & unable to post here, besides which, they never got the line disconnected.

Keep
It
Simple

What is wrong with having a regular flare or banjo fitting you can use a good old fashioned wrench on here???

Problem solved

Here is the solution, at least for my situation:
Apparently there was supposed to be some type of plastic piece that released the fitting. Not present on my car, so I used a hacksaw and cut through the piece that sticks out of the opening in the bellhousing (inlet line) until I was just barely through the metal, all the way around it, and pulled it off with some pliers. The hose popped right out.

[Next rant]
  • Why bother putting in a drain plug if the trans while sitting level still has over a pint of fluid in the tail section? I found this out the hard way as well.
  • This design sucks! There is nothing wrong with a standard style slave cyl/fork/throwout bearing!
  • I hate following ****-poor mechanics- one of the flywheel bolts is broken off!
[/Rant]

[Opinion]
Would have been easier to swap in a '97 LT1/T56 for all of this aggravation.
[/Opinion]

[Fact]
These cars are poorly designed for maintenance.
