Why is everyone selling

What is with the recent massive selling of fbody's on here? Is everyone getting rid of there car before the new one comes out becuase ours won't be as high in demand?

Have you been watching gas prices for the past few years? Some people can only deal with the fluctuation for so long before they give in and get a more economical car.

30 MPG is BAD gas mileage? One other thing I wonder... how can someone complain about gas prices when they drop $20k or more on an F-body that's 4 years old at newest? I scraped together every last cent and begged, borrowed and sold stuff just to get $6500 to buy my Formula and I'm not well off in the least. I think gas prices are just fine. Sure, it'd be great if they were cheaper, but they're not putting me in the poor house by any means.

I could not afford to drive my Z everyday.........I would have to sell it and get a better MPG car IF it were my only transportation.

Most people see cars as transportation not a thing of excitement, people dont care what kind of car it is or where it comes from, or how safe it is, they just care about MPG.

well I tell people if you care too much about the price, then you can't get the sports car. That's why I got a Cobra as my daily driver, and have my camaro as a sports car.

The most amusing thing to me is the folks that go out and trade on or just flat out buy another more expensive vehicle, in which the extra insurance alone will ensure they never break even.

Can't help but notice around here that people buy a fourth gen, sell or trade in less than a year. Not sure why this is but sure is common.

i thin my 24mpg highway is GREAT!!

better than the last few cars i owned.. elky got 13mpg and my jeep got 18mpg.

I still haven't officially listed my vehicle for sale locally but I've got the word out that I'm selling.

I'm planning to sell only because I'm going for something better, a new C6 Z06 will be in my garage once everything is all said and done.

i get 9...yes that's right! 9 mpg! i drive that sucker everday after work for about 10-15 miles, just because it's what makes me smile! and a smile on my face folks is priceless in my books!:D

You do not get 30 mpg. You are mistaken. And $3.52 per gallon is not just fine. LT1 Camaros are not the cheapest to maintain either so high gas prices may just be the last straw. Only reason I am hanging on to mine is that it is paid off.

not planning on selling mine PERIOD ! i've spent enough on it to buy 2 of them when they were new ! i just hope it performs like it's supposed to when it's back together .

I get around 30 miles per imperial gallon (4.54 litres compared to the 3.78 litre US gallon - it would be around 25 miles per US gallon) in my Z on the highway . . . but that can go way down depending on how i drive it

Same here! Plus I'm living in FL with no a/c in my dailydriver. I can afford to buy another vehicle. I just can't see my self driving anything else. Everytime I think about driving something else it just seems too boring.

My LT1 averages 28 Hwy, which is better than my grand prix's 23, and premium here in Michigan is only 3.00-310 right now. At 15 cents a mile to drive the car...its a steal for the smile it puts on my face.

I'm selling my 94 Z28 M6, but I've already replaced it with my y2k SS. Gas prices do suck, but I wan't to enjoy driving, and this car does it for me. Life is about joy for me. It's too short to waste time stressing over the inevitable.

My LS1 is way better on fuel than my old trucks were. I've had a '65 Chevy C10 pickup and a '72 Chevy C10 longbed and both of those pigs were lucky to see 7-8mpg. So yeah, my LS1 getting 23-25mpg is a huge improvement.

I don't think 'everyone' IS selling... you have to remember that this message board has 65,000 members, and that even if dozens are selling at any given point in time, that still represents a very small percentage of total owners...
For example, 65 cars for sale at any one time is .1% of members... that's far from 'everyone selling'..
There's a core group that will 'never'[or not any time soon] sell..
And also, some that 'come and go' rather quickly...
And I doubt it has anything to do with the 'new one coming out'
That's a year or two from now, and I doubt anyone would sell NOW to 'get a 5th gen sometime in future'
I personally don't even want one..

+1 that's what I was going to say. This thread is a gross exaggeration. Maybe the original poster is female cause that sounds like my wife at times.

Ha ha ha. This thread is funny. We have two trucks that average between 13 to 15 MPGs. When I need a little relief at the pump, I'll drive the Z28 to work for a few weeks instead of just driving it on the weekends. 22 MPG in that thing is like a godsend. :)

I'm getting much pleasure out of owning my car for so less money. I average 24MPG, a gallon of 95 octane is US$1.90. I'm just 7 months into my Z and it still feels new. Gonna keep it forever. And I pay US$350 annually for comprehensive insurance. My cousin was quoted 9 times more for insuring a brand new 5.7 V8 Chevy Lumina (the GTO equivalent)!

Surprisingly my wife's 800 cc chevy has such poor gas mileage that when we go out you can literally see the needle moving down. My Z is better it (12 gallons) lasts me a week. she drives less than me but has to fill (7 gallons) every 3 days.
