New Pics of my C5 Brake Conversion

Just finished my C5 front brake conversion. There is absolutely no comparison to the ol' LT1 Brakes. I got everything but the calipers from Tobin at www.Kore3.com
These are 18" wheels they are filling up, not 17's

After

Those lt1 brakes look like kids toys compared the those C5's. Which pads did you choose?

I went with the stock AC Delco ceramic pads. I needed the anti-rattle clips and these were my best option.

I went with the Z06 pads and they are dusting real bad. How is the dusting with the ceramics?

I went with ceramics on my C5 setup, dusting is very minimal.

Re: New Pics of my C5 Brake Conversion

It looks like a nice setup.

How do you like those C6 wheels and do they fit well? What size rims/rubber?

Once I go with 18s I think I'm gonna go with the C5 Z06 setup, Slotted and Cross drilled with red calipers and ceramic pads.

What about the rear? Are lt1 calipers the same as the z06 calipers? Seems that rear prices are way less. If so, can I just run the same Slotted and Cross drilled rotors in the rear with matching ceramic pads w/lt1 calipers? Or should I just upgrade to rear Z06 red calipers?

Thanks!

My car is red, would match well.

Looks good. I also bought the AC Delco pads, but only used the springs out of them. I used the AC Delco springs, but put Hawk HPS pads on. Cost me a little more, but I figured with all the money spent on the brake conversion, I didn't want to skimp on pads especially since I was putting HPS pads in the rear too.

Re: New Pics of my C5 Brake Conversion

97 WS6 Pilot: The brake have been on for about 5 days and I have noticed hardly any dusting.

IgorT: The wheels are 18x9.5 at all corners. I love the C6 design, I wish they had a lip on them, but when their moving it appears to have a big lip because of that inward curve behind the spokes. I bought them off ebay from Moore9111(something like that). The tires are 275/35/18 's. The rear C5 brakes are not even close to stock LT1. They use 12" rotors compared to the 11" on LT1's. I'm not sure if there is a diffrence between LS1 and C5 though, they might be the same. I'll be redoing the rear as soon as my current pads wear out. There is no mechanical diffrence between C5 and Z06 brakes, only a red powerdercoat.

stereomandan: I wanted Hawk HPS pads too but I also needed the clips. I plan on reusing the clips next time with HPS pads.

Thanks.

One other question...with C5 rear brakes, what is the smallest wheel one can run?

Thanks.

Yes, the smallest diameter is 17", but you also have to make sure the caliper clears the spokes of the rim. There is a template you can use to check. My 17" SS rims clear fine.

So what do you use for a spare? or do you? I am in on the BB bracket GP going on now and was wondering what sort of spare to buy. I guess a C5 spare?

I don't use a spare. If it goes down, it's getting towed.
