I am currently installing my new Jet Hot longtubes and eveything went fine thanks to you guys suggesting the ARP header bolts. I am now trying to get the intermediate pipe off and the joints are stuck together very badly. I then began to try to take the other clamps loose and am getting nowhere. Should I just remove the muffler and work my way back? This system has been on my car for five years and has never been removed. Needless to say, it is really stuck together. What are you suggestions to get things apart again so I can get the intermediate pipe end cut to fit to the Y-pipe? I had to walk away from teh project again because I was getting so ill-tempered.

heat the joint red hot with a torch and they should slip apart. if that does not work they might have been squished together to tight that you might have to cut the joint out.

Spray some PB blaster and it will help to separate the pipes. Then go rent or buy an exhaust pipe expander to re-shape the pipe for easier insertion.

A torch will also help.

Frustration accompanying and LT install? Never...

My LM was like that (one reason I'm not a fan of the c-clamps, I guess they're called), I just wiggled it back and forth a while and eventually it came out just fine. Didn't have to dent, bang, smash, etc. Good luck, when you fire it up it'll be worth it.

If any of the U shaped clamps were used, the joints might as well be cut off cause those things crush the pipes and make them almost impossible to slide apart..

Luckily they were all C-clamps. I talked to a friend of mine and he also suggested heating them up red hot and taking everything out and starting over from scratch and re-install. If everything slides apart nicely after the heat, then I will just clean them up and install them accordingly.

W/ exh, it'll take almost anything to get it apart. I'd advise heating it w/ a MAPP gas torch. that usually works the best.

Good luck, tho. My Borla/lt install, luckily, went good.
