Removing Turn Signal Lever

I've seen some posts suggesting that to remove the turn signal lever you just pull out on it. Do I just pull straight out away from the steering column? How much force is it going to take? Anything need to be disconnected first? This is a 93 Z28. Thanks!

Yes, just pull strait out on it.

If you have Cruise Control you will also need to unplug the CC wires.

TraceZ,
Can you please provide more detailed information on how this is done? What has to come off, where is the connector etc? I do have Cruise.
Does the handle disconnect from the other harnesses once it has been yanked out?

Thanks

There is a cover behind the lever. Slide it toward the dashboard for access to the connector. Disconnect the small connector and then you can pull the lever out.

Great, I was expecting to have to take the whole column apart. I want to replace this handle cause the lettering is all worn off.

I though only I was so **** that I would replace the lever for that cosmetic reason. I guess I'm not alone!

To keep it nice, i'm very carefull not to touch the lettering. I reach in further and touch it along its shank, instead of on the end.

I'm also very carefull about how I enter the car. I go out of my way to prevent any wear to the seat and sill. A little care and an interior will look new forever.

Yeah, but did you replace your door sill panels due to scratches?

I will replace anything that has normal wear if the cost is reasonable especially if I can sell the old stuff at auction or on the forum. You have to look hard to find anything even with slight wear in my car.

I know you replaced your leather seat covers a while back and that is the last thing that I really want to replace due to wear. BTW do they still look good and are they holding up well?

I've been hitting them with Zaino Leather in a Bottle.... They look better than new, not a mark on them! They smell pretty sweet, too. I found a good product for detailing the dash and console. It is called Meguiars Foaming interior protectant. It doesn't attract dust and dirt like products I've used in the past. I apply it, let it sit a few minutes and buff it off. The interior on my car really does look brand spanking showroom new, other than a couple very hard to notice scratches in the plastic trim.

Re: Removing Turn Signal Lever

Thanks TraceZ and ShoeBox. I've replaced my interior switches with white lettering from the 94+ camaro. Turn signal lever with cruise is the only thing left. You guys have any recommendations on where to buy a 94+ lever?

Look on Shoebox's website. He has links to to a couple reasonable parts sources.
