ls1 swap or not67speeda 06-01-2006, 08:03 PM thinking about doing a swap next summer. Going to get a crate motor or used one. Think should go for the LS1 with trans or get a simple carbed motor? GhostZ28 06-01-2006, 11:22 PM I've drove a 70 nova with an LS1 swapped in. I dont know much about the work involved, but the nova was very smooth. You also cant beat the reliability of the LS1 or the gas milage/ power it offers. billsbird 06-02-2006, 03:58 AM .....big block crate motor. www.sdpc2000.com ...... JST8A50 06-02-2006, 05:13 PM Well, here is an LS1 with cam, exhaust, and 3200 stall. It gets 25 mpg and idles as smooth as can be. http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=629240053&n=2 JDBlaze85 06-02-2006, 09:48 PM a chevy in a stang?????????? wtf! :yuck:   JDBlaze85 06-02-2006, 09:50 PM i've personally installed an LS1 into a 68 camaro. not a big deal. i say go for it. LS1s are monsters. JST8A50 06-02-2006, 09:58 PM a chevy in a stang?????????? wtf! Thats the exact same question that a guy with an 04 Cobra asked him at the track one night. He was sooo mad about it. My friend proceeded to hand him his ass and then saw him in the pits afterwards and said " Thats why. I wanted a FAST Mustang" 67speeda 06-03-2006, 01:02 AM lol thats great I am def goin to do the LS1 swap next summer. I want to get a truck so money is tight now ed2552 06-06-2006, 12:43 PM What car are you planning on putting this engine in? In a 1st gen i would put in a ZZ383/425 which makes good power and is still a small block and costs less than a LS1 unless you are planning on pulling one out of a donor. The 383 makes much more power and torque, though. 67speeda 06-06-2006, 01:51 PM def. will get the LS from a donor.... yes it is in the 1st gen ZZ383 fuel injected? JDBlaze85 06-06-2006, 06:38 PM 1967 Chevrolet K10 (Project) 2005 Chevy 2500HD Duramax (605ft. lbs. of torque ) 2002 Trans Am WS6 Ram Air Convertible 35th Anniversary Edition "Naw officer, i wasn't street racing, that would be illegal! (That was just a burnout!!)" hey ed, where'd you get the Trans am?? they never made a 35th anniversary. the trans am only saw 33 years of existance. :bs: 67speeda 06-06-2006, 10:51 PM 1967 Chevrolet K10 (Project) 2005 Chevy 2500HD Duramax (605ft. lbs. of torque ) 2002 Trans Am WS6 Ram Air Convertible 35th Anniversary Edition "Naw officer, i wasn't street racing, that would be illegal! That looks awsome! Now i just need to win lotto JDBlaze85 06-07-2006, 10:05 PM go with the LS7. i think that motor puts out some hp. 67speeda 06-07-2006, 10:54 PM a few......grand 92_RSCamaro 06-08-2006, 03:14 AM I say do it but if your on a budget then a donor car will be needed. If not a LS1 crate is about as much as a LS2 so I say if you can go that route go for the LS2:D 67speeda 06-08-2006, 09:12 AM should i get the motor trans etc off ebay or stay away from ebay? JDBlaze85 06-08-2006, 01:27 PM i would go with a local parts shop. they are like chop shops for mustangs and f-bodys but they are legit. we have like 2 around dfw. or also some junk yards have some wrecked donor cars. I would go that route......cheaper and you will need the fuel pump and the fuel lines would be great to get. I used the fuel lines off the 02 camaro on the 68 and they fit like a glove. made the process way more easier. ebay is a roll of the dice. and if something is wrong with the merchandise........you will then be arguin with someone miles and miles away. 67speeda 06-10-2006, 09:51 PM good point me and my buddy put a LT1 (carbed) into a 32 ford. I want the fuel injection. He got his from a junk yard. Think i might have to do the same..... will look around. | ||
