Re: is the A-Class Mercedes avalible in America

In Europe, Mercedes and BMW sell much lower end lesser equipped cars that we would call econoboxes here and only expect to see from GM, Ford, Toyota, etc.

In Europe just because it has a Mercedes or BMW badge on it doesn't get you instant respect just like having a Chevy badge here doesn't give you instant respect - if it's a Chevy and a CORVETTE, then you get the respect.

Even nearly half the 18 wheelers over there are Benzes and they're not any nicer or more 'luxury' than any of the rest of 'em.

[QUOTE=Caps94ZODG]so why would somebody bring it here with diplomatic plates on it.[QUOTE]

Hard to say - if it had manufacturer's plates I'd raise an eyebrow, but I have no idea why one would be wandering around with diplo plates (seems to me that if I had diplomatic privledges, I'd be cruising around in a black S-class or something equally as intimidating).

FWIW, the first-generation A-classes are truly horrible little vehicles that remind me of mid-80s J-cars. I'm serious - they're awful, and to have to pilot one down the Autobahn all day was clearly punishment for something I'd done in a previous life. Hopefully the newer ones are better.
