Test drove a 94 Z28 M6 camaro

Ok so Im a stang guy, looking to trade , I drove from oxford NC all the way to richmond to look at the 94LT1 M6, (99,300 miles)body was in great shape, interior had a rip in the drivers seat, a cracked dash (huge crack) it smelled like a box of crayons, window motors would barely pull the windows up and headliner was sagging but that didnt bother me too much. Drove it and it was pretty fast , fast as in faster than my turd definately. Now my car is pretty nice if i say so myself, a 98 GT vert 5 speed, 110K miles, interior is in excellent shape, body is in excellent shape and ive got an offroad X and macflowpaths, optional rims and all that. So I get back to the lot thinking it should be a fair trade, I was offered a straight up trade on the trans am I drove with 85K miles and new SS rims and new tires. So I talk to the guy, a young gun, and he said he will only give me $4500 for my car, and that he would need $2500 + my car to trade. Im thinking "no way in hell" so I try to keep my cool, and my father asks what he would take in cash for the camaro, and the guy calls his partner and he says $7300. Now im really pissed, that car is nowhere near worth that much to me, so I told him I wouldnt give him over 6K for it, and he said there was no way. So pretty much he thought my car was a peice of junk and I thought his was a peice of junk. So I drove 100 and some odd miles for some guy to try to make a quick doller off of me, no way.

This should not be posted here - but, we'll forgive you some since you're a Mustang owner

Sorry to hear about the luck - sounds like he bases the value of cars on speed only.

Sorry, I did get it in the wrong one. Yea it sounded like he does that, or either he got raped on the auction block. I tried my wheeling and dealing the best I could, didnt get excited, noted out all the problems wich were Alot, and noted the obvious: the stang has got to be worth atleast as much as the camaro and probably more (no offense to you guys) than the camaro. Owell, no one in their right mind will pay that kinda cash for that car unless they want it badddd.

I still believe for a younger guy(yourself) you have quite the car right now. As biased as I am about F-Bodies, I am not a blinded GM only lover. I still say you should keep the car you have, unless you have a severe hate for it. Insurance for F-Bodies is probly higher than the GT(guessing). My first car was a '91 Acura Integra, however the 2nd car was the Camaro . I would have traded that Acura for your Mustang in a split second.
Buttt if your determined, Go back and trade for the TA if it's in good shape.

I agree - from the sound of it your car runs well (just not fast ) and it looked good in the pics I saw. From the way this Camaro looked, it seems like you should be happy you didn't trade - a better Camaro will turn up - and if you're willing to drive like you did, it should be NO problem at all.

Thanks for the moral support guys. This cars appearence was really clean, only minor scratches, interior not so great as explained earlier. Yes I am lucky to have this car, and my parents didnt just give it to me. Ive worked since I turned 15 to pay for most of this car, all the insurance and the gas and whatever I add to the car. I do love my car and I get compliments all the time, its just not fast, and Ive always loved Z's. But I guess the search is still on, maybe by time I find one I can keep the stang and get the Z if I keep working like I am now.

Heres a couple of pics, took them just before I left. I guess it just wasnt meant to be. Btw my car sounds a heck of alot better than that. It sounded like it had a tin can for a muffler.

Wow, he's really trying to rape you. I paid under $6k for my '94 M6 Z with 30k less miles over a year ago. Keep looking, you'll find a better deal than that.

BTW, nice 'Stang. Looks nice, and I've always liked those rims.

Haha Thanks, it feels good getting compliments from camaro guys. By the end of the year if I dont blow my money on something stupid I should be able to go ahead and buy one in cash, one around $6K or so. I bought my stang in january, it had 107K miles in great shape, tires are pretty worn, for 6 grand, and this is a 98 GT vert.

yea - wait a couple months; see what comes up.....until then, drop the top and enjoy what ya got. As for the compliments - I think that's what seperates (generally) muscle car guys from others - we can appreciate other rides and respect them and their history.

Keep your eye out bro, I paid $3700 for my Z. Its an automatic tho which is usualy $1k less then a manual. I felt I got a great deal so I wasn't gonna let the transmission talk me out of it.

With how you described the Camaro, I would say you are better off keeping what you had. If you really want an F-body, keep looking around because there are MUCH better deals than that one. You shouldn't really need to compromise as much as that car would have required. Good luck with the search!

Re: Test drove a 94 Z28 M6 camaro

As others have stated, you will find a better deal. However, from reading your first post, it almost sounded to me that you weren't too sure of the value of your mustang. Get on the internet and start searching your car and see what other people are asking for their mustangs. I am sure that you will find that a 98 GT convert. will bring in alot more than a 94 Z28. You should be able to sell that stang and be able to buy an LT1 F-Body and have a little change left over to put a few basic mods on the Z to make you more than happy about the sound from the rear.

Re: Test drove a 94 Z28 M6 camaro

Hey bro. My suggestion: Look for a 98+ camaro z28/ T/A. The LT1's are very responsive in the lower rpms, but they just cant hang wiht LS1's mod for mod. The ls1's shine in 4500+ rpm. another reason: restyled front end/interior. another reason: LT1's have Optispark, LS1's dont.

I paid 9.5k for my car (see sig) with 70k miles. you can do alot better than those douche bags
