Loudmouth or True Duals???

Whats up guys my name is Josh and Im 17. I have had my z for a little over a year now and in that time all i have done is LM and CAI, until tuesday i ordered my Pacesetter lt's. I was wondering what you guys think i should do for the exhaust situation, keep the lm or go tru duals? If i keep the lm i know it is going to be insanley loud but im kind of on a budget. I was thinking of buying a chambered muffler to go in place of the lm resonater i know it wont be much quieter but it will be more of a tame sound. If i go true duals it will be 2.5" dumped with flowmaster 1 chambers. So guys all opinions are welcome along with any suggestions or soundclips. Thanks.

Josh

Re: Loudmouth or True Duals???

from what I hear, 3" straight through's (LM) only become a horsepower restriction at around 370ish RWHP, and that true duals,2.5" will support around 450rwhp and 3" will go higher. (over the axle style) The best performance is from the ones that dump before the axle, those are the style on drag cars, so I guess theres really no limit to what those will support.

My suggestion: wait untill you get your headers on, then decide what you want for sound. I prefer something quiet (I dont need to show my power, I just ask people to race). But headers will make a sound difference.

Yea im not really concerned with restrictions b/c i dont plan on making that kind of power anytime soon lol. I will probably wait to decide but would just like a few different opionions.

well what i said is pretty much what everyone else says. Just start going to some local cruise nights or shows and find what sound you like best and go in that direction. the HP gains arent too different either way.

I'd stay with the LM for now. You could add an electric cutout later.

You'd get more torque from Duals.

It seems to me as if he really wants duals as well - and everyone here supports them.

I think the question he is really asking is if it is worth it since money is an issue.
