After you wash your car, you spray down a small area (1ft by 1ft as most at a time usually) and rub the claybar over it, keeping the surface wet. The clay picks up anything that may be on the paint, such as road tar or anything else that builds up on there, leaving your paint noticably smoother and looking better. It can take a long time (it took me about 5 hours straight to do it my my car the first time) but a good claybar followed by a good waxing will make your car smoother then it probably ever has been if you've never done it. 2000SilverLS1 05-19-2006, 12:45 PM and make sure you buy the right clay as well, if you use a tougher clay on a relatively clean surface, you can scratch the car. just keep the paint wet at all times while using the clay on a certain spot. like rlax31 said, clay usually comes in a kit with a certain liquid you use to wet it. normally its a quick/final detailer. rlax31 05-19-2006, 02:24 PM Yeah I have to do that again soon. For some reason the top of my rear bumper just doesn't stay smooth. 2000SilverLS1 05-19-2006, 02:28 PM if you go with the meguiars route on the clay, get the purple one. | ||
