Seriously, no person has any business going that fast, unless they're driving on the Bonneville salt flats. Airliners approach speeds between 150 mph and 225 mph to achieve "takeoff". 272 mph is 47 to 122 mph faster than what airliners need to become airborne...and we're talking about aircraft that are between 100,000 and 400,000 lbs...

Holy crap!

At 272mph, you better hope you have a TON of downforce, or your car will act like a plane!

Re: 2007 Veyron GT

As Clarkson said when he drove it across Europe, the impressive part about it, is it drives and handles like a normal car (besides the odd the proportions) when you are normally driving.. It was amusing that at highway cruising speeds, he was only use about 50 hp according to the gauge.. 950 hp to go!

what was the stastics again he mentioned?.. Someting likea Mclaren F1 zoomed by the Veyron at 120 mph, with the Veyron sitting still.. The Veyron can still beat it to 200 mph.. An good indication of really what 1000 hp can do.

Awesome is probably the right word to describe this car. You have to admire Bugatti for being determined to stay on top with their top speed record.

272mph.....unreal.

You can slap a Saturn V onto a turd, but it is still a turd.

[ricer]I could just put turbos on the McLaren.[/ricer]

Several people think it could be faster if it didn't have corinthian leather from a virgin calf and blah blah blah. Id still buy one.

Re: 2007 Veyron GT

I dont have any place around where I could do 272mph, but then if I could buy a 770k pound car, i guess I could afford to build my own track.

Still think its kinda ugly, not much hope for change in the body since thats what helps keep it on the ground.

They also have these big things on the sides which are designed to generate lift, where as the bugatti has these things designed into it to elminate or negate lift.

Hmmmm.... lottery night tonight. Might just have play in the vain attempt to raise the bar on fastest speeding ticket in america....272 ought ta do it!

I believe I read that it is only 47 inches tall. That monster would be damn fun to drive.
