what's the required offset?

I'm interested in some aftermarket wheels...specifically Fiske (probably the Mach V).

Anyway...regardless of the wheel...what it the required offset I need?

I have a 1994 Z28 with the LS1 Brake upgrade.

A while back I tried to get some American Racing Rebels...17x9, and of course with the 275-40-17 tires...when Sears mounted them...they looked awful...not just the tire, but the rim itself stuck out a few inches from the wheel wells. They told me that that size tire did not go on my car; I knew they had no clue what the were talking about...especially since I've seen numerous cars like mine with that size tire. Not to mention that the SSs from the factory had came with the 275s with the 17x9.

So...I know I can get the 275/40/17...can anyone tell me what offset I need?

I'd hate to spend the money to order the Fiske...only for them not to fit (by the way...Sears refunded my money on the American Racing wheels...I believe they were a 26mm offset...the funny thing was that the American Racing Rep said it was the proper wheel...but they obviously didn't fit...sure looked nice though).

The WS6 and SS wheels used on the coupes were 17x9" with a 50mm offset. You could go anywhere from 40-50mm offset and keep the tires comfortably under the fenders front and back.

What would be the best offset for a 17x11 rim running some 335s. And would you have to beat the inner fender in any?

The WS6 and SS wheels used on the coupes were 17x9" with a 50mm offset. You could go anywhere from 40-50mm offset and keep the tires comfortably under the fenders front and back.

Ok...I've settled on a wheel. I'm going to order some factory 35th anniversary SS wheels. So...they "should" just bolt right up to my '94 Z28 with no problems...right? and the tire would be a 275/40/17...right?

You might have trouble with them fitting the rear axle hubs. Easy fix, read the sticky up top.

Some people put 315's on those wheels and have to do absolutely nothing.
Others with 315s' find they have to do any or all of the following - hammer a bit, recenter an off-center body with an adjustable panhard rod, roll the fender lip and/or cut the projecting edge off the jounce bumper bracket. With 335's the chances of having to do all of the above significantly increases.

So just some minor modifications.. Thats not bad.. What offset would be best for a 17x9.5 for the front? I think the guy said they were 56mm??

The hammering with 335's may be more than "minor". A couple people have done it, so it can be done.
