Re: How to find out where a block is made.

From all I can find , the bare blocks appear to be the same . Both are aluminum with cast iron liners and the both share the same 86mm bore . The 2.2 has a 94.6 stroke . The 2.0 has a 86 mm stroke . Couldnt find where the actual blocks were cast , but Im almost dead positive the LSj is just a de-stroked L61 . The 2.4 block is definately specific though with a 88mm bore and 98mm stroke .

The ecotec is made is several different locations . The current Ecotec line is manufactured in Tonawanda, New York, Kaiserslautern, Germany, and (for Saturn) in Spring Hill, Tennessee .
