IVe noticed that the shifter tends to bob up/down an inch or two when going over bumps on the road. And it also tends to shake/vibrate some at idle. This is my first stick car. So I dont know if this is normal or not. I looked at the trans mount and it doesnt appear to be torn, but when taking a crowbar to it I could pry it up a little, but not much.

Check your tranny mount and the tranny cross member.

Already did that, it appears to look fine when prying it up w/ a crowbar it moves up a little, but I think its suppose to have some play. I tore a trans mount in half in my a4 car and this one looks fine.

First stick car yet your signature states "A4" Tranny mounts can look fine from a glance yet when you remove them they're torn. Easy to remove and inspect.

The stick in an M6 F-body goes directly into the tranny, no linkage. So if the tranny moves, so will the stick. Rev the engine, it'll kick to the side a little. And thanks to a tailshaft-mounted torque arm, if the rear end is subjected to the right combination of forces, it will push up on the entire engine/tranny.
Are the bumps you're going over really big? I haven't noticed my shifter going up and down over bumps, but I'm not usually looking at it (nor do I have my hand on it) when I'm going over bumps, so I may not have noticed. I doubt it's moving a couple inches, though. I'd beleive that it had a total vertical travel of maybe half an inch.
Vibration at idle is normal. Is yours vibrating more than this? Click for video (http://homepage.mac.com/jakerobb/camaro/questions/shaking-shifter.mp4).

My video link is ready to go now. BTW, I've since ditched the lame metallic shift knob and gone back to the stock Hurst knob on a shorter stick. :D

Mine looks just like that in neutral. The bumps Im going over are nothing big, just the normal ones on the expressway that you cant even see. The shifter, like you said has about 1/2 inch of total travel up and down. It bobs up and down 1/2 inch either way when going over these bumps. Just didnt know if this was normal or not.

It's hard to say for sure without actually seeing it, but what your describing seems normal to me.

Ya I think the trans mount is fine. IM just gonna let it go and see if it gets worse.

So is it suppose to bounce around a little when going over high speed bumps?

Shift knob in my T5 bobbed up and down on bumps - just before it tore in half!
I'd check; it's not hard to do - only a couple of bolts.
