Wheel polish ball by mothers???

Has anyone tried that cleaner/polish ball you put on a drill by mothers i think? Does it work at all, or just better off doing it by hand?

I like the idea of these things from a "quick and easy" standpoint... but I always worry about it scuffing the heck out of the paint and/or finish... so I usually just do it by hand.
