My parents are buying me a nitrous kit for graduation. Its time to put that 9" rear and clutch to good use by spraying out of the hole. Soon I will be installing the usual bolt-ons (CAI, LT's, Y-pipe) and then getting the car tuned for N20. While I am doing the LT's, I figure it would be a good idea to upgrade to nitrous friendly plugs and wires.
First off, I hear people mention OTVC wires and I have no idea what the hell that is, so if someone could please explain that I would appreciate it. Second, since I will be running nitrous I will need a colder plug (at least thats what I hear tell). I know that a common plug for the LT1 are NGK TR55's. I also hear talk about copper and irridium plugs as well (Like I know what the differences/benefits/disadvanteges of those are ). Some people run AC Delco plugs and something else as well.
If I'm not mistaken the most common sizes of wires a 8, 8.5, and 9mm wires. Which should I get and why? Which brands also? I know that the common ones are MSD, Taylor, and Accel. I also know that some people install plugs and wires and then burn holes in their wires in 2 days, I'd like to avoid that (obviously).
Will I need and ignition like the MSD 6AL or something along those lines? I believe that I can run nitrous without an ignition, but would it be wise to upgrade?
Finally, it is a long ways away but the eventual plan is to pull the motor, forge it, and spray the piss out of it, so if I can get parts now that will be good then it will help.
