I have a 1997 Z28

All I need is rims to complete the look of my car.

I currently have the 16X8" 5 spoke alloys

My parents and g-rents are pretty fed-up with all the money I have put into my car since i bought it last year.

I have a nice set of 18X9" spoke wheels Shown in the link below...
I can get them in Chrome for like $650 or polished for $550.
I would match them with either BF Goodrich g-force T/A KDW 2 ($1000 for all 4) or Dunlop Direzza DZ101 ($800 for 4)

So this could range from $1450-1750.

Or I was thinking of chrome plating my stock alloys. This was I could Keep my current tires. I don't know how much plating costs, but I would guess $300-600, which is substantially cheaper than the 18" wheels.

I personaly think that Having my stock rims in chrome would make a HUGE difference in the look of the car over leaving them plain alloys.
(obv. the 18" 's would be even better)

I Know my wheels did come in chrome from the factory, but I don't know if it would be better to keep my wheels.... 3 with no curb rash, 1 with minimal.... or risk buying used ones off ebay and have to pay shipping charges on top of the price of the wheels. This way i could sell my alloys back on ebay though....

I need opinions...... thanks

Eagle Wheels makes the same wheel called the 077. It's their most popular model, so they have sales all the time. http://www.eaglewheels.com/index.htm

Or you could get a set of chrome ZR1's for cheap. Dozens of companys make them in silver painted, polish, or chrome.

I recently got new 18's to replace those same 97 16" factory wheels - Mine were white 16" (pics in sig) and I changed to white 18" - I cannot believe how I ever lived with the 16's - These cars were made to look perfect on 18's.

If you go 18's, don't count too much on getting a ton of money on ebay for your old wheels - only a few hundred tops.

Consider the tire cost as the big factor (if you are replaceing 16's all the time, it will be way less than replaceing 18" tires) - decide what direction you want to go with the car - bigger wheels only hurt your perfomnace, so you have to sacrifice performance to get the better looks - and you will give up some ride quality as well with a lower profile tire

Even if i go from 245/50 to 275/35?? I thought wider was better for performance... Does anyone have pics of a Z28 with the factory chrome spokes i have now???

Tough choice. I don't know your financial situation and I couldn't access the first link, but I just thought I'd share my 2 cents worth of opinion...

First, the rim type is going to be pretty-much a personal choice. I think fourth-gen. Z28's generally look best with the original wheels, but that's just me.

Second, if you decide to chrome your existing wheels, be careful how you choose to get it done. I've heard that chroming wheels after the production process can lead to trouble. Though I'm not sure exactly why, I understand it can compromise the integrity of the metal. Just something to consider.

Best of luck!
