Walked outside to wash my car this morning and see this...

I park in a parallel parking place on the street because it's free and it's been good for 2 years now. I guess not paying for it has caught up with me.

Someone took advantage of me. No note or nothing. This kind of thing makes me hate people more and more. No decency. Anyways, cleaned if off, buffed and waxed it a little bit and this is what it came out to. Still there but much better. It actually popped the bumper inwards I think because of the way the scratch is. Oh well.

Any other ways to cover it up some? Worst part is that I just had that bumper repainted a year ago because a friend hit it. Why couldn't it have been the front bumper that NEEDS paint already!:o

Dude, consider yourself lucky....the exact same situation happened to me, only the guy did it to my front....big gash right on my nose next to the camaro emblem. Looks like some moron with a flatbed did it and got scared and drove away. It was at my GF's old place, I was so pissed.

Looks worse in person, I tried to cover it up a little:http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/4/web/844000-844999/844026_45_full.jpg

And yes, my fading fender from a bad paint job by the previous owner also looks worse in person.

Same happened to me except I was driving on the expressway and a tire came out of no where and scuffed the back of my right rear bumper cover. Some dumbass lost his wheel. At least nothing was broken except for a small paint job.

That's just what people do these days. I had barely 3,000 miles on the Impreza before someone did a hit and run on the rear bumper and someone else put a giant door ding in the side.

I agree with a lot of you guys that it definitely could have been a lot worse. But it still irks me to no end.

MarcR94v6: That almost looks like a lifted truck with a tow hitch. I know a LOT of peole with trucks that have done that. If I hear of a friend that doesn't leave a note I usually will ream them a new one for it. No F***ING excuse for not, I don't care if your insurance will go up!

Small door dings on my car are a dime a dozen. College kids don't seem to give a damn about theirs or anyone elses cars. I'm kinda glad I graduate in 3 weeks.

Sorry to hear! You should see my Corolla after a year of parking at a college:
side scraped down to the clearcoat, front chipped, rear nicked, various dents.

I hear ya man, I am in the exact same boat. My paint was actually decent before I got to college and now I have scratches, dents, etc. all over my ****ing car.

When I was going to college I usually took my beater truck. Didn't care about that thing, hell, I ran it into **** just for fun(not cars). When I took the Camaro, it sat in the back parking lot. I didn't care how late I was or was going to be. Didn't care how hot it was. It stayed in the back lot, which was the least populated. It was typically empty except for just a few cars.

Someone did a hit and run on my 03 Silverado I think. There's a red spot on my bumper and up by my gas tank. Dunno where they came from, but oh well.

It doesn't matter where I park, some ******* always ends up parking literally 2 inches from one of my doors. ****ers.

That sucks Kyle! Why do you always have such bad luck with your car?

reminds me of the time I came out after stopping by work real quick, your typical straight in parking spaces - someone pulled way into theirs, and 3 feet or so into mine, right into and over the nose of my car. People are so f'ing stupid, that they LEFT their car parked on mine basically. I had to leave because I was in a hurry, so I moved the car since didn't appear to be structure damage - rather than take pics or report or something, wrote their plate down just in case... After backing out 2 feet I was able to buff everything out with some wax I had in the car, so I left THEM a nice little note. How are people so ignorant of such situations?

Welcome to "the real world"....exactly what I go through (with the beater). A world where cowardly people hide behind two ton cars and show how good they are at screwing up things.

You should invest in a good buffer and keep stock of rubbing compound (3m). You really can't win when you park on the street or in public. It is like choosing the lesser of two evils: Choosing between 90 degr. parking and suffering door dings or worse, or taking your chances on the street, where you get cowardly bumper rubs, smashed rear view mirrors, or if you're unfortunate enough, getting taken out by an 18 wheeler.

Just take as best care as you can in observing the people parking next to you, and try to avoid situ's where you could possibly get tagged. I know your pain, so just a little advice hoping it will help.

Agreed.

This was enough that a buffer isn't going to fix it. The clear is gone on most of it and the primer is showing through on a few places.

I'm kinda stuck parking there for the next two weeks til school's out. Today I parked in the first spot, that way only people are parking behind me. One less car to hit me.

Or you could just shell out a few bucks and parking at the top of northgate garage ;)

HA! Is that where you're at?

That's exactly what I used to do. But now that prices have basically doubled (used to be like 2 bucks max) I don't care to park there as much.

Nope...I'm across the sidewalk at the Tradition's garage. :)

These kind of situations is exactly why I try to park in the farthest spot and I take up at LEAST 2 spots, but I sure this crap will catch up to me.

Taking up 2 spots makes you more lible to get hit, keep your car in the lines!

I got scuffed on the back in school, then hit once good, then repaired this winter and just 2 weeks ago it got scuffed up some more by some jerk in a MB when I parallel parked in Manhattan:mad:

Luckly mine waxed out.

I saw a guy with a rubber bumper gard thing that hung from the trunk when parked, it looked like a giant pillow.

I just had this same problem. I took Z out for a sunday drive parked in a basically empty parking lot with eight spaces on either side of the car. Then a woman comes into the store and is like who owns a red z28. I feel the tight knot in my stomache as i realize the car has been hit and the person who did it RAN! Luckily the woman who tracked me down was a state farm agent and she called the police and wrote down the womans license plate number. They busted her for a hit and run and the car is in the paint shop getting repaired paid for in full by her insurance. Some people just shouldnt have a license

Be glad you are not in the northeast (New York City and nearby). Taking up two parking spots or any other obvious preventive measure is a sure way of getting your car keyed, or at the very least smited (sp) by a mad motorist.

Your best weapon is to just keep an eye out and good judgment (spelling corrected) in choosing spots. That will keep you out of trouble a lot longer than the two car spot method!

That type of **** happens to me all the time!!! My rear bumper has been hit 3 times while it has been parked in my apartments overnight. I hit mine up with some 3M Rubbing compound #39009 and then follow up with a clay and wax job and it takes away the scuff marks. However there is some spider-cracking going on now 1yr later which is probably what is going to happen with yours.

Put some break cleaner on a rag and go over that area, it'll come right off. Then go over it with some polish and wax.

It's not paint from another car, it's deep scratches into the plastic.
