Car dies. Security or ignition or ???????
Car dies. Security or ignition or ???????
I'm lost now. The car started dieing on me a couple weeks ago. No obvious reason, I would just be driving down the road and ....dead. The first couple times it happened I just pushed in the clutch, started it and kept on going. Then it did it again but would crank when I tried, the security light would come on when I turned the key to crank and go off as soon as I released it. I pulled over for a few seconds, shut everything off, and I fired up again w/ no security light. So I go back out today to try and drive it after its sat for a couple weeks, start it up, 20 sec. later it dies. Dash works, radio works, but now it wont crank again. When I turn the key to crank the security light comes on and I get the slow (seat belt warning) dinger, then as soon as I let off both go away.
I've read that VATS will not kill a running motor, is that true? Cause mines been running fine everytime this has happened, then "Bam". The other thing is could it be Ign switch? I just replaced mine a few months ago with a brand new AC Delco. And my Ign. tumbler was replaced 2 years ago. I'm at a loss now. Anybody had a prob like this?
