Rookie header question

What kind of headers should I be looking at if I'm planning on going turbo soon? Did some searching and came up dry so far; I'm kinda in a time crunch here.

The story: hit a curb and jacked up my jet hot long tubes among other things under my car :mad:

about to put in the insurance claim and will be replacing the jet hots.

want to turbocharge in the near future but don't know a lot yet. have to make my header decision NOW. any help would be greatly appreciated.

i'm pretty sure i've heard of people getting 2 passenger side SLP shorties. try searchin for that and see what you can come up with

Maybe I am reading your post wrong. But, you do realize that a turbo kit completely replaces your current headers with ones for the kit. You won't be able to install headers and then add a turbo to them later. That is unless you install a set like mentioned above, and then flip them around to use for a custom kit when the time comes.

Maybe you are planning on an STS kit? That would make your question make more sense to me?

I am looking at a sts turbo system and "joe" from sts stated that you have no gain in using headers with a turbo the turbo inlet is a certain diameter so it will be restrictive at that point so just to throw numbers out there you could run a "10" diameter set of headers but if the inlet to the turbo is only 2" in diameter thats all that is going to get through thats the way he explained it to me if I am wrong please advise me but it sound like it could hold some truth to it!

With the higher backpressure caused by a rear-mount turbo, I would think that a long-tube header would be especially important to try to pull down some cylinder pressure at the end of the exhaust stroke.

Thanks for the replies everyone, I clearly don't know enough about turbo setups yet. Considering complexity and my HP goals, I am beginning to think a supercharger might be better for me. I believe I'm going to get another set of Jet Hot long tubes and start some SC research.

I don't buy that... restrictions are additive, I see no reason why headers wouldn't offer any benefit over stock manifolds. They way I see it, STS is probably just trying to tout the fact that the kit is ableto be installed on completely stock cars.
