I'm thinking about selling my subthumb ttop box with 2 12"s and buying a stealth box.

1) which stealth box is the best? jl, mtx, subthump, etc?

2) which sub will handle the most power? I have a big Rockford fosgate amp

3) Do you have to screw the box to anything? I don't want to damage my interior by screwing it down or having it rub on the carpet or plastic.

4)Where would I keep the amp? Again, I don't want to screw it to anything.

5) How does it sound?

1) The JL and SubThump are better quality enclosures than the MTX

2) Haven't got the slightest idea.

3) The SubThump enclosures are a pretty snug fit. I'm using two of them and I didn't have to shoot screws for either of them to secure them.

4) Click my sig to see the details of my rear wall amp rack.

5) It won't sound anything like the subs you had. Not even close. There is very little breathing room inside a Stealthbox type enclosure for the subwoofer. Even less so if you are trying to stuff a 12" in one. If it's really loud obnoxious bass that can be heard a couple blocks away you will not be happy with a Stealthbox. I prefer tight, accurate bass reproduction so my twin Stealthboxes are ideal for my needs.

Rascal, can you request the scanspeak addition to a stealth box when you order one from subthump? Any idea on how much it would add to the cost? And how much does it help over a regular stealth box?

You'd have to ask Steve at SubThump about adding them and how much they cost. Or buy them from Parts Express and install them yourself.

As for how much it helps it's hard to say. I didn't do a comparison between with and without the flow vents when I got my Alpine subs. Like I said above a Stealthbox enclosure is a bit of a compromise since it has so little internal air space for the sub to breathe. Anything you do to try and help this is bound to improve things. I used two vents in a 2.5 cubic foot sealed enclosure I built for my home theatre setup. The sub is the JL 10W3 I used to use in my car. This subwoofer system is pretty damn impressive now for a single 10". It can shake the hell out of my living room.
