Hey this is a q for all the f-body owners out there with an auto transmission n who do roll or dig races all the time.

Do you guys use the 1, 2 ,3 on the shifter thing?
Wht do those mean anyway?
Do u jus leave it in drive?
Wht do u do if its in 2nd when u try to go from a roll?

I need some tips cuz i know there are better ways out there than to hope ur in right gear on the auto when racin from a roll.

this must be your first car. the 1, 2, 3 on the "shifter thing" are your gears. if you have it in 1 you will only be able to be in first gear. they have these in and A4 because if your going up hill in drive sometimes you may need a lower gear to accelerate and to keep it from shifting up a gear. If your racing from a roll and if youre inexperienced leave it in drive and just before the third honk stomp on it to allow time for the transmission to down shift to the proper gear for your mph. If your experienced with your cars shift points then you can leave it in the corresponding gear (1st, 2nd, 3rd) for that mph youre rolling from. Camaro's and firebird dont race from a roll, they race from a dig. why give the turboed imorts and advantage.

 

from a dig, i always held down the brake and revved to like 2k, then let the brake off and yell "charge!" and stick out my right fist.

from a roll, i used to drop the gears manually, then i heard it was bad for the car. sure is fun though. i used to yell "charge!" and stick out my fist during this method as well.

If you can get the person next to you to laugh, who knows, they may miss a gear, it's worth a try.

 

Cuz the turbo import driver is a ***** and knows ill kill his jetta from a dig lol

 

I agree. They brag about how big their turbo is and boost this boost that but never want to race from a dig cuz their turbo doesnt spool till 25-30 mph. Small block turbos are where its at. Awesome accerleration and even better when that sob spools. I want one on my car but you need $$$$ for them. My buddy has one that was off a suburban 350 with a turbo manifold for like a couple hundred but what good is a turbo that I cant install because i dont have the extra couple grand to rebuild the internalls and take all the necessary precautions.
