Choosing the correct ohm load with DVC subs?

Back when I was big into stereos, (had three 15" Kicker XPLs in my Blazer) DVC subs were around, but not too huge. Today it's different, they are everywhere, and a sub is considered crap if it's not DVC.

So I'm not sure how to select the ohm load to work with an amp. :o Although I think it's due to people trying to overcomplicate things when they describe their setup so they sound l33t.

I'm looking to get a Kicker 10" L7 for a Subthump box. It's going to be the single sub powered by a class D monoblock amp. Do I get the 2 ohm L7 or the 4 ohm?

Depends on what the amp is rated for. If the amp is rated for 2 ohm operation, then the 4 ohm DVC model; if the amp is rated for 1 ohm operation, then the 2 ohm model.
