Sway Bars

Right now I have a stock back sway bar and no sway bar up front, car has QA1s on all four, drag springs up front. I was thinking about buying some BMRs for the front and back, yank the front for track trips. Will having a larger back sway bar help or hurt?

A larger sway bar in the back will help, by keeping the car level and launching straight. And helping prevent the right rear from squatting and pulling the left front wheel up. It takes a fairly meaty sway bar to do that though.... like the Wolfe or the Spohn "Race" bar. I doubt that either of those would be very good for street manners and cornering. Sounds like you might be interested in preserving the cornering capabilities.

Yep, I dont like the way it drives now at all, was looking at used BMR sway bar sets, that way I could have the car handle good while driving around town, yank the front when i go to the track. Will having a sway bar liek that make any real difference at the track over having the stock bar?

In my opinion, the stock rear sway bar is fine for most streetable cars running 11.00 or slower. I'm sure a special bar would be better but I still have the stock rear sway bar and have had no problems. The front sway bar was removed years ago.

I took mine out too, knowing it was going to handle bad, I have gotten use to it, but still car handles terrible with out it.

what about that spohn solid 1 inch chrome molly bar? I just bought that one, hoping for good streetability and good launching manners. I figured it would be the best for both worlds, was I wrong?
