Battery Being Drained after 1-2 days of sitting..

Car has a new alt and a brand new duralast battery.. but it drains itself after a few days of sitting... I bought the car like this last week (for 5k) and this is a need to be fixed thing to make this thing reliable so any help is appricated!!

Disconnect your neagative battery cable and put a test light between the battery cable and the negative battery terminal. The test light will illuminate since something is drawing current from the battery when the car is off. Start pulling fuses one at a time until the test light goes out. This will at least tell you what circuit is pulling current and you can go from there.

Test light may not be the best way, i'd use a multimiter so you can judge the current drop more accurately, as the car will use power just sitting there maintaining settings anc clock and whatnot.

I agree with the process tho, it's a great way to figure out what is causing the problem.

Is there an aftermarket alarm/remote start installed?

I second using a multi-meter over a test light.

Mine did the same. I found the light in the center console box to be staying on after hours. Pull any bulb you can and see if the problem continues. If that doesn't work, you'll have to track it down as said above.

ya as I was leaving today I looked and saw all the lights stuck on dome and 2 mirror ones but supposidly its been doing this through a few batteries ud think theyd ahve noticed this

lights come and go from shutting doors but i did find there is one in the glove box that was stuck on so i disconnected it and the battery didnt drain but now the courtesy lights are stuck on again.... i press all the sensors in the door and trunk and they won't go off any ideas?

Also, you probably already know the interior lights do not shut off immediately but are on a timer. This is a feature and not something wrong with the car.

yea but them staying on all night is uhh not right.. sometimes they go off sometimes they don't

I had this problem. Turned out to be a bad battery connection. Cleaned it with a wire brush and was good to go. No problems since.

well I have found the problem it is the lights that will stay on sometimes (how they feel) and the center console box one thats on 24/7 (got it disconnected now) and no pull from the battery it fires right up after a few days of sitting @ 13-14V strong :cool: now how do I go about making sure the courtesy lights stock ****ing up? id disconnect them but the radio is on the same thing :mad:
