Im new and I have some speaker questions!!

Hi everyone, this is my first post on this board!!! Never really knew it existed..but its awesome!! I am having trouble choosing which speakers I want to put in the camaro that will fit with little to no modifications. The car is a 99 z28 with the monsoon system. I do not want to spend over $320 and I do want to keep factory amp and HU. I am having the most difficult time figuring out what to replace the mid car (sail panel) speakers with, what will work and what goes good together with other speakers? ANY help on this would be much appreciated!

Honest answer; because you have the Monsoon system, unless you want to gut the system and replace EVERYTHING; then you really can't replace anything but the Headunit. The Monsoon system uses odd impedence speakers which are not available in the aftermarket.

To be more specific:

Your car's speakers are 2-ohm speakers. Pretty much every single aftermarket speaker is a 4-ohm speaker. You can get whatever aftermarket speakers you want, and they will work, but the factory 2-ohm speakers will be louder (roughly double) than the 4-ohm replacement speakers.

You could attempt to compensate for the difference using the fader control -- I'm not sure how well that would work.

If you replace everything with 4-ohm speakers and keep the factory HU and amp, your maximum volume will be a lot lower. It kinda sucks.
