Best mods for a 67 RS

I have a 1967 RS. It has a stock 350 motor with a turbo 350 trans. I want to know what would be some good mods for my car. I would like to make it do around 11s. Any suggestions?

Quite honestly, your car will never get there. It would take a host of suspension mods, a new engine with a ton of juice, and a gutting of your car to get the weight down.

If you are going to make a track only car (and that is what you are asking for), please use a 1975 Mustang II and spare the Camaro.

I need to see it to believe it. How about a time slip and cam/head specs that got another one there?

Tell you what, I will assume you forgot to add slicks to your list, so you can use them in your example if you like.

I just don't see it happening, even if a high stall t/c was installed as well.

My full weight '69 runs 11.30's at 120 mph. First gen small block cars aren't that heavy, mine weighs 3,150 with half tank of gas. It has full original interior, all stock sheet metal and it even has A/C. Click on the link in my sig and you can see a time slip and even a video.

To answer the original question. If you want to run 11's it would be easier to build a 454. I have a mild hydraulic roller 454 in my '69 El Camino. This car is not finished yet but it should run 12's on the motor and somewhere in the 11's on the bottle. If your car has the original motor in it now, pull it out and set it aside. If you ever want to go back to stock or sell the car it is worth more with the original engine.

Yes, you can get your 67 to run 11's but it will take some $$$ and a lot of work. Just look at his list of mods on his 69. And then you have decide how often you want to drive the car since a 4200 stall converter is not exactly the best setup for getting stuck in traffic.

You're gonna need a real good suspension setup and a much stronger rear. Some serious engine work like heads, cam, exhaust, carb, ignition, etc. Then a decently strong transmission to handle the extra power. You definitely need to plan it out really well before going and buying parts.

That's exactly why I suggested he go with a 454 instead of his 350. You can get into the 11's with a 350 but it will be a fairly radical engine if you don't use nitrous. He can do it easier with a 454 and it would be fairly mild mannered.

after reading your mod list, including a fully built solid roller motor, I take it that the consensus is that heads and cam are NOT going to get his car into the 11's.

I am pretty old school on the engine stuff, was sorta half-hoping that the first two posters knew something about modern technology that I did not, never to old to learn...you know?

But, it seems that they were more optimistic then realistic.

No magic carburator here...:(

Sure its bored, forged, heads, cam, ignition, intake, carb, tranny, suspnesion, ET streets, 10 bolt, etc

remember a 327 is a 5.4L.....

BTW 10's is a goal WITH power adder

I still cant see him not getting into the 11's with heads and a cam (also add intake, carb, and ignition to list). I am BY FAR from a motor expert. Hell, im only 17 and just got my 67 on the road today! His 350 should make around 250-300RWHPhp no?? I thought with the mods about he would be pushing 400-425RWHP and at 3300 pounds (i think thats wut they weigh stock) he should get a 11 sec.

BTW how much does a 67 weigh with a small block and fiberglass hood and fenders? No cage

With a stock shortblock naturally aspirated your not gonna do it! Even on spray you would be pushing your luck. Building decent power isn't too hard, actually getting it to the ground is the hard part. So, exactly how quick have you been in any car that you own? I happen to know some people in the Chicago area that would run your 10 second car. If your interested let me know.

Wait a minute. I NEVER said my car is a 10 sec car. hell for all i know it is a 19sec car. My goal is 10's (10.9999999).

I have been in low 11 sec cobra's, camaros, etc

few rides in a 10.759 cobra
