1994 T/A Factory 10 speaker stereo need help!!

ok heres the deal...I had no idea I had the 10 speaker stereo, and I got a ~$200 Sony headunit. It seems to work fine. I recently replaced the front speakers with some 6 3/4 3 ways and ditched the old ones, including the crossover on the old ones. My question is, does anyone know what role all these components play in the sound? I have ZERO bass as of now...I am wondering, do the real seat speakers produce bass only? I threw a set of the same 6 3/4 speakers in there to see what it would do, and there didn't seem to be any sound coming from them at all??

Same thing, except my TA came without the sail panel speakers... It has an aftermarket headunit and aftermarket speakers everywhere else (Rockford Fosgate?) and the amp has been removed from its location (and Im guessing wiring harness too...). There are wires going to the sail panel area but I havent tried putting speakers back there yet, was planning on putting 2/3way Pioneers up front, 3/4way Pioneers in the sail panels and a 4 channel amp to power them but havent gotten around to it.

well, I talked to a crutchfield tech on the phone and found out what the problem is. If you want to get your rear seat speakers working, just let me know and I will post up the procedure. Just a heads up, it requires pulling the headunit out and splicing into the factory harness. :)

If you can post that up itd be appreciated incase my rear speakers dont work (think Im just going to try installing some 6.5s for now). :)

I basically made my own solution to the problem...I just ditched the rear hatch speakers, pulled the wiring from them and re-routed it to the openinings next to the rear seats...then just mounted the 6.5s back there. So now I have the 6.5s behind my head, and in the front doors and it sounds great.

Heres the info from crutcfield....He said in the dash harness you hooked up your aftermarket stereo too (or even if you have the stocker) there should be a black and white wire with a type of clip/harness on the end. Each wire (the black and white) have long and short sections if you follow the wires...Find the Long White section and there should be either a green or pink wire hooked up to it (he said it varies between cars)....once you locate this wire, you can hook it up to any free power or speaker wires coming from the aftermarket stereo harness and that will give the hidden rear seat amp power for those rear seat speakers. I know this sounds confusing, but I hope it helps. :)

Yeah only problem is I dont have the stock amp... thanks though, your solution sounds pretty good:)
