Capital...? the Rock...?

I have personally only been to Rockingham and Fayetteville dragway, both in NC. For those of you that have been to some of the others in this region which is your favorite?

V.I.R.!!!

I know your talking about drag strips, but VIR by far has the BEST road courses around and not far away at all!!

Theres one you don't see everyday.... I live in Washington. I like the Rock and Coastal Plains is a nice track also. What color is your car? It wouldn't be the black Z28 I've seen around (most of the time on a trailer)?

FayetteNam is my favorite. Slickingham is overpriced and underpreped IMO:mad: For 1/8 mile racing, Piedmont is a hookin a$$ track as well.

curly, what kind of car do you have? As mark so nicely said yes my car is black with a 4" cowl hood.

I forget to mention northeast dragway in Hertford,NC. It's not that big and it's only 1/8 mile, but it hooks like mad.

Fayetteville. The Rock has gone downhill in recent times.

I have a 1995 white Trans Am with the "new style" WS6 wheels on it (the old firehawk style). The car hasn't seen alot of daylight lately since the weather has been so messy. I would have to say I like 1/4 mile tracks the best so I'm partial to Coastal PLains and the Rock. I have never been to Hertford. Do you ever hit Kinston or New Bern? There is usually a good crowd at both of these. Kinston says they run 1/4 mile but I don't like jamming on the brakes like you have to do in Kinston. Let me knoe if you're ever around Washington...I would like to check that beast of yours out.

Later,
Stephen

Randy are you running this weekend? I saw your motor for sale a few weeks ago. Wish I could go, but trying to build a house doesn't leave much for the wallet.

Ya, I was going to sell my engine, but now have decided to keep it and do something later. Yes I'm racing this weekend at the rock you should come down if nothing else to hangout.

I would love to, but like I said my wife and the house. You know. Plus I've got some Mustangs to knock out this saturday night on the street. Two Mustangs and one Camaro, should be fun. One is a 2001 with a blower, the other one is a '90's modle with a 306 and 175 shot. You may have heard of them their from the Washington area.

I probably have a good idea about the Mustang and probably know the other ones also. I may try to run down to the Rock this weekend. I don't know if I will run... having a little problem with my second to third shift hitting the rev limiter.

Randy, do you do your own engine work or do you have someone else? I would really like to put a cam/heads/intake combo on the car but don't know anyone local that I would trust to do it right...any ideas? I will be back in Washington around 6PM (I work in Greenville and get off around 5). I don't know what time you will be heading for the Rock. What time do things start at the Rock Saturday?

I really like Fayetteville's track too. But, I had no idea there was a track in Hertford, that's where I lived when I was born :D

I've been to just about everywhere around in the past year; Kinston, the Rock, Fayetteville, Darlignton, Piedmont, Brewer's, Nahunta, Roxboro, Dunn-Benson and even to Englishtown:bow:

I'd have to say that Piedmont and Brewer's are my favorite 1/8 miles, Piedmont's a little better due to all of the bikes that now hit up Brewer's. As far as 1/4 mile, I'd have to say that E-town was crazy, and by far had the best facilities that I've ever been to. But around here, Fayetteville would have to be the best. The Rock has been slicker than Pat Riley's hair lately and doing 117+ at Kinston is downright dangerous...

Darlington is awesome but needs a little orginazation and watching races and not being able to see the times sucks. It was nice however outrunning the big badazz rx7 and because they didn't show times, all the import guys came by and said that car has to be running low 11's because he outran that fastazz rx7 pretty bad (actually a high 12 second run but I didn't tell them any different)!!

Anyways, Fayetteville has to be my favorite (sorry for the long post, kinda got carried away)

rockingham is my favorite, but they probably wont run as many races next year, so i'll probably wind up switching to piedmont or brewers

rockingham is a real good track, though its usually slick on test and tune nights, but if you go to a real race down there, the track is usually 200% better

I'll probably be going thorough washington around 4 pm or so. The gates open sat at 10:00 am. As for the engine work, no I don't do my own I have Bob dalton of Fayetteville build mine. He is a great guy and does excellent work.

I've never heard many folks complaining about how the Fayetteville track hooks on any occasion...

hey drake, how many imports show up at fayetteville? when i go theres only 2 or 3, where rockingham usually has a ****load

plus it seems to me most of the street cars at rockingham are driven by idiots that do burnouts IN the water :) the ppl that run at fayetteville, from what i remember, dont do the stupid crap the street cars at rockingham do

go to rockingham during a race and you wont complain :)

I agree that fayetteville is a good hooking track, but you also have to remember that steve earwood is all about the money and he's not going to spend anymore than he has to on the track unless some big boys are there. Just for the record, I was at the holcomb race a couple of weeks ago and was pulling both front tires about 8-10 inches on most every launch, so even though it's slick sometimes when steves spends the time and money on it it hooks like mad.

I hate to use last names, but there first names are Chris and Billy. Chris has a blower on his black mustang, and Billy has a built 306 with a 175 shot on it. Wish me luck with Billy. I'm not to worryed about Chris.

Randy, I will be coming thru a little late to possibly catch a glimpse of that beast of yours. Good luck at the Rock, I probably won't be able to make it and I'm not that motivated since my car still has a few small issues that need to be worked out before I can run. I think a PCM tuning will fix my problems. Let me know the next time you are going to one of the local tracks to run.

Willy, I was thinking about another guy with a black mustang. Word is he has a blower which I have not seen. Maybe I will see you around town sometime this weekend.

Yea Chris, Fayetteville usually has a lot less imports than the Rock. I moved to Raleigh (NC State area) a few months ago, so I have all but stopped going to the Rock. F'ville is much closer to me now.

LMAO @ Slickingham  Isn't that the truth? I can't launch worth a damn there! The only other track I've been to is Moorseville... launched great with my new Nittos! :D Went back to the Rock this past Friday night and the Nittos felt like my street tires!
Anyone been to Pageland? We're thinking about trying that one out before the season is over.

I like the rock, but Fayetteville is closer, so I go there more often.
