I know the 1999 Z-28's had 305HP at the crank stock, but what did the 1999 SS's have stock? As well as the 2000 SS?
Thanx

1999 Ss Hp?Black94Camaro 04-03-2006, 07:53 PM I know the 1999 Z-28's had 305HP at the crank stock, but what did the 1999 SS's have stock? As well as the 2000 SS? Thanx MasterEvilAce 04-03-2006, 08:55 PM They were just rated slightly higher. The SS's might dyno a bit better if they were equipped with certain things like an exhaust package, or so. Otherwise, they're just rated higher, and are just as fast as a Z28 Black94Camaro 04-03-2006, 09:29 PM Oh Ok .... I just found that they are rated 320HP. But equally fast ok. RussStang 04-03-2006, 10:09 PM What he means is that both motors are equally underrated by GM, and both z28s and SSs will dyno 350hp at the crank if you were to pull the motor out of the car and stick it on an engine dyno. F-Bodies (Camaros and their Firebird twins) typically dyno right around the same as a 97-04 c5 Corvette. GhostZ28 04-03-2006, 11:49 PM yup, but the loss is in the drivetrain...so you're really feeling about 290-300 at the wheels RussStang 04-04-2006, 12:01 AM yup, but the loss is in the drivetrain...so you're really feeling about 290-300 at the wheels Yeah, but he was asking what the hp levels were at the crank, not the ground. GhostZ28 04-04-2006, 01:02 AM oohh sory =(. Anyway, why did GM underrate the crank HP so low? MasterEvilAce 04-04-2006, 01:08 AM so it wouldn't take sales away from the Corvette. Who would buy a 350HP corvette if they could get a 350HP Camaro? (that's the reasoning mainly) might also be for insurance reasons, etc. PatFitz9 04-04-2006, 10:27 AM might also be for insurance reasons, etc. yeah, that extra 30 hp makes it hurt just a little less when they assrape you on a camaro :P 2000slp2768 04-04-2006, 12:35 PM see sig Black94Camaro 04-04-2006, 06:35 PM wow so with just a lid you had 317HP at the wheels..... thats impressive Greed4Speed 04-04-2006, 10:54 PM What kind of dyno??? Makes a huge difference... I've seen anywhere from 280s to 310s rwhp on stock LS1 f-bodies of those years on a dynojet. Each car is different as is the outside factors (temp, humidity, etc) and so is each dyno. You can't really compare runs made from one day to the next let alone different cars on different dynos on different days strung across the country. Dyno numbers mean little seeing how I've outran cars that made more power on the dyno. RussStang 04-05-2006, 12:39 AM as is the outside factors (temp, humidity, etc) This may be true, but I don't remember the last time I have seen a car dyno where this isn't accounted for. All dyno results are typically standardized with the SAE correction factor, although some dyno operators still use the STD correction factor. Greed4Speed 04-05-2006, 01:25 PM This may be true, but I don't remember the last time I have seen a car dyno where this isn't accounted for. All dyno results are typically standardized with the SAE correction factor, although some dyno operators still use the STD correction factor. You never know what numbers people will report on boards. They very well may be uncorrected. CJ Black LS1 Z28 M6 04-07-2006, 08:51 PM My buddies 00 SS m6 dynoed 322rwhp 334ft lb's with slp lid. If you didn't know 01-02 F-Bodies got a smaller cam,LS6 intake some other changes. My 01 SS bone stock right down to the paper air filter 306.7hp 327.2ft lbs of torque. I have the dyno graph somewhere | ||
