What is this???? located on firewall behind the distributor

Here's a picture of this lil bastard that is located on the firewall behind the distributor, anyone have any idea what it is?

There is an orange wire that is close to it that is broken off and it appears that it would possibly connect to the bottom of the connector?

possibly for a tach? or mabye elec choke??

I think the wire for my tach is attached to a thing like that on my 3rd gen... I think.. have to check it out again at ome point.. once i take the cover off it.. But i do believe it has to do with the disty

are you running a MSD coil pack? possibly the previous was?? Good luck to ya man, I had to trace back about 5 on my 68, all were dead ends so I just removed them

the red wire is stuck in the connector for a oil pressure sender

the other thing looks like a RFI suppressor from the original ignition setup

Thanks, I was thinking it might be something for the old points ignition setup.

Give the man a cigar. Back in the day, AM radio was very susceptible to ignition stactic. So this suppressor (big resister) was used to help keep things quite. This is why early Corvettes had the entire system covered with a chrome metal shield. FM radio's are not affected.
