Cracked Dash

I was just wondering if anyone else has had the problem where the plastic dash has cracked from exposure to sunlight. Does anyone know a way to prevent this from happening? And where can I find a replacement for the old one? Any help would be appreciated.

mine is cracked also, and you can't prevent it from happening unless you cover the dash with one of those dash covers:yuck: I'm sorry to say that those damn things are exspensive, around $200.00.:eek: If your lucky you'll find one in the bone yard but it will be very brittle and prone to braking when you try to remove it. so if you do find one before you try to remove it, remove the A-pillar trim first.
On a coupe just start pulling from rear and work your way forward just pull strait out. With a drop top there is a screw at the top of the A-pillar remove it and pull.
The dash piece is held down by Velcro only and don't forget in the middle by the de-froster vent there will be a plug that connects to the light sensor that turns on the headlights when it gets dark.:thumb:

I found the best way to prevent it from cracking is to just coat the back of the dash pad with 5 minute epoxy where it's prone to cracking (along the sides, where the defrost vent is, etc.. It's not the best solution, but the epoxy is strong enough to hold it together.

I just replaced mine, bought it new at the dealer for a $175
