I'm on the list for the special unveiling at the Atlanta show, and need to make hotel reservations. Anybody else going have a suggestion as to what the best/most convenient hotel might be, or any suggestions? Would like to get as close to the Georgia World Congress Center as possible. It's been years since I've been in downtown Atlanta.

I was planning on staying just outside of Atlanta in the suburds, I want to stay around the Mall of Georgia area, but the hotel I had in mind is all booked up. I like staying in places that are fairly new, and the Springhill Suites I had in mind is fairly new and really clean. That area of Atlanta is suppose to be a 20 min. drive to downtown, but I suspect it would take a little bit longer.

I am making a weekend trip of it, and that area has plenty of other things to do and places to eat. I am really hoping the Auto Show in Motion is in town that weekend too, but the web site is still not updated.

Hey, I live like 10 minutes from the Mall of GA and believe me it does not take 20 minutes to get to downtown Atlanta. Maybe 30-35 minutes if traffic is light and you're lucky. I would suggest staying in Suwanee, GA, it is about 3 exits from the Mall of GA and it puts you closer to Atlanta if you go I-85. Good luck.

My wife and I are staying at Holiday Inn Midtown North which is pretty close, room rate was like 95.00 for Friday night

Thats the best bet. If you plan on having any fun in atlanta just pay for a room intown.

There is no reason to suspect that auto show day wil be unlike any other day when 2 out of 4 highways will have accidents and there will be miles long walls of traffic.

Atlanta doesen't take to kindly to, "Lets get off at the next exit and find out way there" either... You'll wind up wherever you left from.

I have found a good deal at a Residence Inn by Marriott in Gwinnett, right off of I-85. Its $61.00 a night for a 1-bedroom suite. Its a bit closer to Atlanta and still close to Mall fo Georgia and Dicover Mills, but its not across the street from the mall like the Springhill suites are.....oh well.

Anybody know of any Camaro caravans heading down to Atlanta or in Atlanta that Saturday? If not I was thinking about getting a rental car and driving down instead of driving the Z.

A couple of things:

1....don't be late. Get there early........camp out if need be! (bring coffee!) For those of you who have never been to this convention center........it's a longggggggggggggggg walk from the front door down several flights to where the show actually is......so if you're late, you won't get in until the public opening!

2....book a room now......we're staying at the Marriott Marquis -- made the reservations two months ago......and they booked solid about a month ago!

I know that myself and a few of the others who are comming are going to be driving down. In our caravan will be an 02 Z06, 2000 SS, and a 2002 ZL-1.

If people are going to go we really should get a group together at 6:00 and ride into the city together that we all can make sure we are on time and make the presence known.

I'm going cheap on the hotel, but i'm 3 miles from the world congress center. Super 8 on spring/dearing street. I'll be in my Z-28 coming from charleston. If anyone is coming from my area, email me at shock6906@yahoo.com, I'm leaving midday friday.

Is there a general idea of when everybody wants to meet up at the center?
Is 7am not early enough?
