Stumped on Squeaky LT1 Rear Brakes

Ok, I have a constant squeak on my brakes. When I make turns it sounds like metal rubbing on metal. I have replaced every brake component and had not help. I heard that my c-clips may be worn out, so I replaced them to. That seems to have done nothing if not made it worse. Both of my axles have play in them, probably like an 1/8" or so. What could be the problem. I looked for where my rotor might be rubbing on the caliper, but I don't see any marks. This noise is driving me insane. Has anydoby cured this problem? I heard it is fairly common on LT1's.

Are you sure it's the rear brakes and not the rear-end wanting some LS additive? For about $15.00 you'll know for sure if it ain't. 2 quarts of 80-90w oil and the LS additive from a GM dealer.

The rear rotor is rubbing the caliper mounting bracket, guarentee it 100%.
Happens to a lot of LT1 rear brakes. You will see where it is rubbing on the rotor as well as the inside of the bracket. Right hand turn squeak indicates right hand rotor.

3 fixes available.
1. Remove the bracket and grind out the area that is rubbing with a disk grinder.
2. Shim the caliper braket outward away from the axle tube with shims or washers, there is actuall y a GM part number for the shims but i dont know it.
3. Brand new pads.

I chose #1 and it took about 15 minutes to do.

I agree with wrd1972.

Look at the bracket, you'll see where it's grinding.
Get a dremel and clearance it a little bit.
It's a tiny bit of metal you remove.
NO MORE SCREEEECH

Here's what I did before that, and it still screeched:

Shimmed the bracket SCREECH
New Brake Pads 2x, 2 diff types SCREECH
New Rotors 2x SCREECH
New Caliper slide pins, greased, boots all like new SCREECH
New CClips 2x - No screech for 1 day each time, then SCREEECH.
New Axle bearings - New Axles nice and tight, but SCREECH
New Axles - cleaned up the play in the axles, but SCREEECH
New Posi Juice 2x - have to do it when you pull axles SCREECH

I went from least expensive to most expensive back to least expensive again.

Try the least expensive fix first. :D

i had a similar problem when i had my 96 Z and it turned out caliper springs needed to be replaced and pistons lubed

i'm guessing you've already considered this, but thought i'd say it just in case

Yeah I just changed the fluid when I did the C-clips and I put the additive in. I have brand new rotors on it, and I have looked for where it is rubbing, because I am pretty sure that is it, and I can't see where it is rubbing. Could someone describe to me where it may be rubbing? Also, I was thinking about trying some AC Delco pads from GM.
