Do roll bars have to be welded by a certified welder?? The NHRA Rulebook states "mild steel welding must be done by approved MIG wire feed or approved TIG heliarch process". What exactly does this mean?? I am looking to weld my Wolfe 6 pnt. MS bar in today and would like to know. a friend of mine was going to weld it, but he isn't certified, and niether am I. Thanks

Looks like as long as you do it with either of those types of welders it's fine. I would MIG it myself. How is your friend going to do it?

I have a Lincoln MIG welder with shrouding gas or whatever its called, that I can use from where I work. That is what we were gonna use.

yes, that's fine.
what they are talking about is that the bar must be welded with either MIG or TIG welding for mild-steel, but only TIG is approved for Chromoly steel.
They don't want u using a stick welder or something other than mig/tig to weld the bar.
