Seafoamed this weekend...
Seafoamed this weekend...
Very unimpressive. From all I have read - I though I would cloud up the neighborhood. Got some smoke - but certainly nothing extreme. Guess that means the motor wasn't too bad?? I figured after 90K I would have a pretty good smoke show.
Re: Seafoamed this weekend...
I believe that just means you didn't choke it down with the stuff, which most do. I don't think the amount of smoke has anything to do with the amount of carbon. I could be wrong.
Re: Seafoamed this weekend...
Even better... my first car was an '88 Dodge Shadow. I took the windshield squirters and ran them into the intake and filled the windshield fluid tank with whatever i could get my hands on (power steering fluid usually, iirc). That made an impressive smoke screen on the highway when i 'washed' my windshield! Aahhh... good times!
Re: Seafoamed this weekend...
...definitely not black. In fact the vids I have seen of people seafoaming never seem to be black either. The smoke (including mine) is more clear to white. If that's true, nobody is burning off carbon.

The seafoam mushroom cloud i produced was all white.
Re: Seafoamed this weekend...
i have seafoamed tons of vehicles and 70% of them have black smoke upon initial start up followed by white smoke. i have seafoamed new vehicles and there was only white smoke. next time you do it, you should have someone look at the tail pipe when you start it up to actually see if there is any black smoke.
Re: Seafoamed this weekend...
How much do you use, and how long do you let it sit? I followed the can directions and used a about 1/3 to 1/2 can - and it sat for just over 5 minutes before restart.

What are your feelings on the process. Do you think it is worth it. Are there any risks in you opinion.
Re: Seafoamed this weekend...
The process is the most important thing. When i do this, i run the engine at idle until its up to temp, then i remove a vacuum line and stick it into a "coffee cup" full of seafoam and run the engine until it is gone then immediately kill it. put whats left of the seafoam in the gas tank. let it sit for a good 15-20 minutes then start it up and if the engine had carbon the tailpipe will puff a thick black/gray smoke for a couple seconds then that is followed by thick white smoke. Some cars i dont feel a difference but others the idle is alot smoother and acceleration is smooth..... some ford people claim that O2's are bothered by this but i have never had a problem with it.
