I have a 92 25th anny camaro. What is the widest size of tire that will fit on the 16 inch rim comfortably. Can I go a little wider then 245 50 16?

A 255 will fit fine,I wouldnt go any wider than that especially on the front or if the car is lowered.

Don't go over 255. I have 235/60/15 fronts and 255/60/15 rears. Personally I don't like the 50 series, but maybe on a 16" rim they look good. You can go a bit bigger too, since the ratio of width to height is a little less. What is the width of this rim? 8"? If so, you can probably get away with a 275, but idk.

Just so you get an idea, heres a few pics of my setup. They are kind of crappy because they were taken with a snapshot function on a video camera, but that's not hte point. I like this setup alot because the rears are noticeably bigger than the fronts, but its not over kill. It also gives the car a mean stance.

Oh and here's a cool java program I found when I did my tire change. It shows you how much bigger your new tires will be compared to the old ones, and it even tells you how to compensate for changes in speed. Lol, my speedo is 8% too low now.

Tire Size Calculator (http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html)

Good luck, and lets see pics of those tires when you get them put on

EDIT: Yeah I just played around with that program for a bit, and found out that if you go 255 on the rear, your tire will be the same width as mine, only a whole inch shorter. So I guess you could get away with a bigger 50 series. For example, a 275/50/16 would be the same height as my rear, but a little wider (which always will look badass). Just play with that program to get an idea, it helped me out greatly.

well tire size is entirely dependent on what's safe and what's not, if you want to drive in the rain, stay away from anything over 255, cuz they'll light up everywhere when wet. On your rim if it's only 7" i think the max you can put on is about a 255/60 but if you go and look at the tire charts they'll tell you what size rim is necessary for different width/sidewall rubber,

overshoot and you wont be able to find somebody to mount em for you and if you do it yourself your buddies wont drive near you, so see what sizes you can go with, and the taller you go the wider that is safer, but then check your fenders and make sure they'll fit

like i put 255/60/15s on my 84 firebird, and when i got on it and the rear squatted down i rubbed inside the fender, and then i needed to install air shocks to gain the clearance

stock height,
275/40/17 in the front
315/35/17 in the rear

I got sportlines and my 245/50/16's rub in the front

this car has 275/40/18's front and 295/35/18 rear

i know i can fit a 275/60/15 on my RS rim but it also has quite a bit of sidewall to it, all depends on what you want it to look like.

and i just looked on cooper's website and it says they've discontinued my 215/65/15 stock size for the cobra g/t, oh well bigger is always better eh right?

I believe he means on the Stock 16" Rim
I've seen Camaros run 255/45/16 on the stock rim

255 is the widest I would go on a 16x8 rim, but I plan on keeping 245s all the way around. I have a feeling that I'll be rotating them often ;)

r ua sking widest you can run on a 3rd gen or widest youcan run on a 3rd gen rim...if its an stock 8 inch rim 255 the widest you can put on a 8 inch.275s need a 9 inch wheel.as for fit, depending on your wheel size and ration you can run up to 275 front and rear..some guys even squeeze 315s out back but i dont care for them,a little too much meat, starts to stick out.if you really want to see some 3rdgen.com,go to wheel section and look around, tons of guys rides with pics of different ratios.diameters and widths..
