crank hub options

well i got the motor back from the shop and noticed that i forgot to get them to cut a second keyway slot in the crank and hub. i have been running a single key but just wanted to upgrade to make sure there are no problems. has anyone pinned the crank the way the LS1 guys are doing? not sure how its done and might not be an option. is there a better key that i could run to keep from shearing it off?
