RedRyder518 03-18-2006, 02:31 AM My cousin and I went to the track this evening. He has a 2000 Ford Lightning with a lower pulley, CAI, and chip and I have the Camaro in my sig with the listed mods. Weather conditions were 70 degrees with 88% humidity. Track seemed to hook well but I was definitly not used to my new tires. They hooked very well and quite honestly I was not used to it  . Anyways, my best run of the evening was:
60': 2.0718
ET: 8.8155
MPH: 80.76
His best time of the evening was:
60': 2.0896
ET: 8.7437
MPH: 81.70
What do you think? Would this be considered slow for my mods? Is there some sort of conversion I can do to get an estimate on what that would be in the quarter for both of us? Humidity was pretty high but it was rather cool out. Another thing, my car is shifting into third gear right before the traps and I tried to hold out second gear but it would bounce off the rev limiter. I think a gear change is in the near future to help me out with that, probably 3.73. :D
Automotive Calculators (http://www.wallaceracing.com/Calculators.htm)
So you "would've ran" 13.79 @ 100.14mph
Cousin "would've ran" 13.69 @ 101.31
Sounds about right to me, give or take whatever other variables there are in the mix. The 17" rims are slowing you down a bit and with some drag radials you could get the sixty foot time down, but all in all it sounds about right for your mods. probably someone will come on and inform us how they ran half a second quicker but from what I have seen over the years, you are about where you should be. :)
RedRyder518 03-18-2006, 12:09 PM Awesome, thanks IHI for the conversion website. And tnthub, I am pretty sure that the 17x11s are probably hurting me a lot more than helping so I probably will end up buying a set of 16s to put on the back for the track. I'm pretty sure that the 88% humidity wasn't helping too much even though it was relatively cool out. I am happy to be in the 13s FINALLY because before my tune from MadZ28, the quickest I could muster out was a 14.2, and that was with my headers. Lets just say I was getting a hell of a lot of knock retard.
You get some shorter better hooking tires the added rpm and quicker launch will net you a little more et and there shoould be a few "better" air days this spring yet to get a better time slip cuz 88% humidty is not good, but if all else fails just wait till fall and I see no reason you could'nt run 13.5?'s or if the starts align maybe a touch faster with some practice...also stage as shallow as possible to just trip the stageing beam, this will also gain you a lil et as well since your getting a touch more head start.

RedRyder518, what 1/8 mile track were you at (OK or Texas)??? Have you been down to Thunder Valley this year? I'm doing the Thunder Valley bracket points this year, however, we're rained-out today. Hope to meet you around the track if you're down there.

Hey there. I was actually back here in Houston for the track. I am heading back to Norman tomorrow though. I have not been to TV this year but I did go twice last year. It's a pretty nice track. You heading out there anytime soon?

I'll be at all the Saturday Thunder Valley (T/V) bracket races this year. T/V hosts several different events, however, the Saturday races are their own NHRA events. The race scheduled for today was rained-out. At the end of the summer, the points leaders go on-to Ennis Texas for the Div-4 bracket race finals. The bracket race schedule is posted on the T/V website. I may also do the CDRA 1/8 mile bracket race at T/V on April 1 & 2. Have several friends into the 1/8 racing and I enjoy hanging out with them. I like the 1/4 better.

MTBeni 03-19-2006, 09:27 PM My times are in sig, almost same mods as you but with stock suspension (note my 60!) My best run at 81.08mph still had some left in it. My shift points were jacked up and I finally figured it out. Next time I am gunning for 82mph. I will also have M/Ts so I should cut off .3 or so my new goal is 8.6s. If you note the difference in our 60s, our ETs would be almost the same
RedRyder518 03-20-2006, 12:36 AM Awesome so I suppose I am sitting right where I should be. Can't wait to get some good drag radials and 3.73s!
MTBeni 03-25-2006, 07:05 AM Just got back from the track and man am I stoked! By changing the shift points I completly skipped 8.8s and went from 8.92 to 8.76 and picked up almost 1 mph! Mods remain exactly the same, and the 60 was about the same too. I backed this up with a few other runs that were 8.77s. Here is my best run.
60 2.13
ET 8.76
mph 81.94
I really wanted to break 82 but I was still chasing down an occasional knock on each run. Oh well. What do you guys thing, how much more is in this thing. I already know I need tires. Time to update signiture
MeanGreen97Z 03-25-2006, 08:25 AM Drop those short times to sub 1.9 and run some 13.5s.

Hey thats awesome! What where you shifts at? Do you happen to have a problem with the car shifting into 3rd at the very top end of the track? I tried to keep it in 2nd but it would hit the rev limitier, but I think that was actually my quickest time that night:cool: How was the weather? Great times with just minor bolt ons:thumb:
MTBeni 03-25-2006, 06:10 PM Actually, my best times of the night were when it shifted into 3rd right at the end. Not sure why, but it happened that way. I have my shift points at 6125 for 1-2 and 6000 2-3. Anything higher or lower than that slowed me down. I also confirmed something interesting this time. I LOSE a tenth by taking the airfilter out. I did this the last 2 times at the track just to see what happened. Without the filter I was only running mid 8.8s at 81.0. I made a few other changes to the tune and should be past 82.0 next time. I wonder how quick a full weight stock engine auto can go in the eigth?
buzz12586 03-26-2006, 01:33 PM Get some 16's and throw some DRs on there. I ran 13.48 @ 103 with just catback, CAI, Madz28 tune and some Nitto DRs.
MTBeni 03-26-2006, 08:29 PM I wonder if 8.2s are possible with M/T radials and a stall.
RedRyder518 04-25-2006, 06:13 PM Hey just wanted to give a bit of an update. I went to the quarter mile track this past weekend up here in Oklahoma. I was rather pleased with how my car ran. I am at about 1300 feet of elevation, but the weather was pretty good that night. Temperature was in the mid 60s with a dew point of mid 40s.
Anyways, I had a bit of trouble hooking up at the track. Seems every half hour somone's car would puke thier guts out all over the groove so that made for a difficult time hooking up. My car is also a PIG now with the 17x11s. I weighed in at 3735 pounds with my 220 pound ass in it (and my spare and jack removed!!). Quickest ET that night was a 13.71@100.90 with a 2.10 60'. Not too bad I don't think as the car seems to be making good power, just weighs too much. I have an adjustable TA in the mail that should be here this Thursday and I'm going to the track again this Friday. I bet if I get my 60' in the 1.90 range, I'll be in the 13.50s maybe? I'll let ya know how it goes.
2000GTP 04-26-2006, 10:14 PM Not a bad time, I'm curious to see what your car can do with the torque arm installed. I just installed my adjustable torque arm a couple of weeks ago and it made a noticable difference. I am wondering what that would equate to on the track.

Did you get the adjustable T/A and get it installed? Was looking forward to seeing you at the track Friday, but the rain messed up everything. It is still raining and I think the bracket race for today is probably cancelled. I'm currently tied for 2nd place in the points and was hoping to improve this weekend.
I'm looking forward to seeing you run again and the 13.71 was great! Also, I want to show you my Z28.

I sure did get it and it looks great! It is the tranny mounted one as I really am not making enough power to need the chassis mounted TA. Due to the rain, I have not had a chance to mount it up, but tomorrow is looking like a good day to do it!
About the track day, looks like since we didn't do it this weekend, I won't be able to do it at all because I more than likely will be going back to Houston the 16th.
