I think that is what is on my camaro but I'm unsure.

looking on the end of the head it has a small emblem looking thing that looks like: Something like this ======> |v|, Is this a camel hump or double hump head?

I'll try and get pics with my camera if I can get it in there.

Instead of beaing rounded humps mine are like 2 points.

Then they are not camel backs, what is the casting number?

i think you're looking at the humps that almost every 416 or 081 casting has on the front. you need to pull a valve cover to figure out what you have exactly.

The double triangle is not camel heads. They're probably 330545, 3973493 or 3998993 castings. The 993 casting is a good casting. Small 1.94/1.50 valves but can easily have 2.02/1.6 installed. 74cc chambers. Good heavy casting with little chance of having cracks. These are considered intermediate heads.

Check to see if there are any steam holes. Two of these castings were available on 400's.

I think I got some 993's on the 383, I checked those also friday and beleave that was the number. That's good to know, I was gonna pull those off if they weren't good.

The guy also said it has 2.02 valves but I will find out later if I yank the engine out. I bought a hard top car for the 383, think i'm just gonna sell the 84 t-top car I have now.

If the engine is a 305 then I doubt it has 2.02 valves. The cylinders are just not wide enough for 2.02/1.60 valves without notches cut in the deck for the valves to clear.
