New DCX body code and it's being fast-tracked

LC23

Well, L is the current 300/Magnum/Charger platform and 23 designates a two door pillarless hardtop. The C would be a model designation.

Hmmm... what two door hardtops based on the 300/Magnum/Charger platform have we seen lately? And one that DCX would like to get out quickly to take advantage of overwhelming public support to produce?

As well, rumors of TWO viper chassis are surfacing, one being an all aluminum version. McLaren is also supposed to be stepping in to help with the drivetrain. And don't count the ME412 out either...

The car you are referring to has been out for quote for a couple months now...

I can only assume that team Viper is none-too-happy with how good the new Corvettes are.

I'd be surprised if Challenger isn't on the streets by June 2007.

There is an aluminum chassised Viper in development (thanks Z06!).

The ME412 I'm not convinced yet (nor have heard anything) on it being back on......

....but because the car has already had most all the development work done and only needs finishing, and especially now that the guy who wanted to produce the car now runs all of DaimlerChrysler, I wouldn't discount the possibility. :)

ME412 is just not a good idea, imo. it's too expensive, too powerful, too ridiculous for the Chrysler division, in my book. I wouldn't waste money on it. I'd put more money into refining the hell out of my current cars, and making that Imperial concept a reality for cheap Lexus kinda bucks. That would make more of a difference to the bottom line, and image of this division. LEave the alluminum chassis' cars to the Viper, which sounds like a great idea, again in my book ;)

DCX built some Challenger protos last week.

When they build these proto cars how many do they typically build? I know they have a huge cost per proto so I would think only like 10 or so.

Just curious if anyone knows.

Plus ME410 sounds like it should be a Messerschmitt, not a Chrysler :)

An insider from Allpar.com says Challenger will begin production in March of 07 and be in the showrooms by Summer. Sounds about right.

GM needs to get on the ball real quick with their Camaro and other Zeta cars. A Camaro in 2010 won't cut it at all. I imagine late 2008 we will see the Camaro and GTO first followed by Buick and Chevy RWD cars.

The bulk of the money on ME412 is already spent. It would probally be made in the corner of the Viper garage (it's barely a plant), and the reason it wasn't put in production is DCX didn't think it should go to Chrysler (the company makes Mercedes, afterall).... not that it wouldn't pay for itself. In short, it would have made a few dollars for the company, so it nmost certainly isn't a waste unless it's made.

Also, Imperial IS headed to market, so you needn't worry. ;)

Both of them sound like the titles to engineering classes I had in college.

Seems the LY is just an updated LX the way the current Grand Prix-LeCrosse "mid-lux" body is just an updated "W" body.
