I have a question. What does the "security" warning light mean? There appears to be no problems with my camaro. It starts up fine and runs fine. The "security" warning light will come on at random, if im driving for like 30 mins, it comes on or i may start the car and it will stay on, what does this mean? I have a 1998 Camaro V6 2dr coupe, and if it helps I just got remote start and keyless entry installed.

I had a similar problem that required the ignition cylinder to be replaced.

Yeah, it's going to either need the ignition cylinder OR the resistor in the key is going bad. Don't be surprised one day if you go to you car to start it and NOTHING happens! The lights will come on, radio, all that stuff, but the car won't turn over. That stinks! I had that happen Christmas Eve in a mall by my house. I had to wait 1 1/2 for AAA to tow it.

That is what happened today. It wouldnt even start although the radio and lights were on. After a few minutes, it started... I still dont feel safe with it. Do you think its still the ignition cylinder?

There are many posts you can read about the security system in this forum. A search should tell you lots about it.

the fact that you have remote start installed could mean there is a loose connection under your dash where they spliced in for your VATS bypass
