I consider myself fairly knowledgeable on 3rd and 4th gen cars, but when i cam ascross this it just caught me off guard! I personally have NEVER heard of 1988 being a "spilt" year for IROCs have TBI systems on them. As far as i knew it was etheir 4 bbl carb or TPI...

No carbs after '87. TBI was available in the IROC in '88. Not rare,and not desireable.

82355, oops thats right 87 was the last year for the carb option. Well thank you for clarifying....i don't think i've even seen a TBI ORIGINAL IROC-Z before....oh well learn somethin new everyday

TBI 305's were the base engine for the IROC-Z. The 305/350TPIs were extra cost options like everything else you added.

What he said.......although most dealers where I was (So Cal) ordered 95% or more of their IROC's/Z28's with a TPI motor of some sort, I did see a few that had TBI.......I even test drove a 1985 IROC with the L69 H.O. & a 5-speed. :D
