Has anyone taken apart their tailights before?

I currently have the Altezza tailights on my Z (the carbon fiber ones). I am interested in taking the carbon fiber peice out. I have been told you can just heat the tailights up in an oven and then they will come apart, and then you just need to seal them back together. Does anyone have any more info on this? Has anyone done this before?

Its alot easier to take them apart with a heat gun, then you can use the oven to reseal them. I've done headlights & tailights for friends that had moisture build up inside the housing.

Is there anything in particular I should buy to reseal them? Or do they pretty much just reseal after putting them in an oven?

Thats the whole point of using the heat gun, you won't damage the rubber gasket just don't rush it and take your time. Once its taken apart and ready to put back together you can use the same process either heat gun or oven.

I see. So with a heat gun (or oven), it pretty much just allows you to seperate the rubber gasket from the plastic. Once I have removed the carbon fiber peice, I can just re-heat the tailight and with applied pressure, re-seal it together?

Yep you pretty much got it down, just make sure you clamp it down nice and tight before you re-seal it moisture in headlight/tailight sucks.
