Local Photographer Needs Your Car.

Hey everyone. For the last few months I've been itching to get started building a portfolio of automotive photography. With the nice weather right around the corner, I think it's time.

If anyone with a modified, classic, domestic or import and CLEAN car in the NJ/NY/PA/DE region would like to have pictures, now's the time. I'm really looking to get this ball rolling and need your help to do it. If you help, you'll get:

A CD of all the pictures taken.

Prints up to 20x30 in size, at cost.

Access to your photos on my site, with linking capability if desired.

The only thing I ask is that you either come to me, or help with my travel expenses.

With the exception of this upcoming weekend, I'm pretty much available anytime. We can keep an eye out for a weekend with decent weather, and you can give me more details, ie: where to meet, time, etc.! Just need a little notice to get the SS "in shape". :D

so whats your rate?

I would like to get my new wheels on before I get any professional photos done. Is late April/May too late?

Im wondering how much your rate is? Also do you pick a place before coming to take the pictures or would I need to scope one out prior to your arrival

Everyone: My rate is travel expenses only, if I come to you. AND, the prints are at my cost (roughly $30 for a poster size print and $5 for an 8x10) and can be shipped directly to you within 7 days of the shoot. I will do the shoots free of charge until I get a few cars/bikes under my belt (roughly 4-5), then I'll decide on the pricing at that point (it won't be astronomical, and I assure you you'll be pleased with the results. I will offer basic framing of the prints as well once I get up and running. I've also purchased a plotter *machine that cuts vinyl* and will be doing store-fronts, signage and car/truck lettering graphics.)

As far as location goes---if you come to me, I have a few places we can go depending on the style of photo you're looking for. If I come to you, I'm sure we can locate something with a little scouting, if you're unsure of a location. Generally, the best time of day for this is either early morning, or approx 1-1.5 hours before sunset, to get good lighting and good reflective color and depth. Of course, I can work with whatever lighting is available, but those times are prefered.

Not as awesome as yours, but I try.

We're about 30 miles north of you. Hell, us 3 could all chip in and pay your travel up to us. Check out my pics for locations, some are pretty decent. We have alot of parks around us, but they're no good for us in winter with no leaves. Some night time shots would be great, I'm still working on them myself.

actually the bridge is not broken..just severely annoying. But theres a plus side. Ill take a picture tomorrow to give you an idea but with my old car i discovered that right there in front of my house in the cul de sac... at closer to sunset if you set the car on the little ramp into that fenced area behind the car and shoot the picture paralell to the big stupid wall it offers a fantastic back drop... ill take a pic tomorrow so maybe it could be considered as a spot for a photo shoot... i have found a few places around my house

Alright everyone. Sorry I haven't gotten back until now and I appreciate all the interest.

Let me see if I can touch on everything here.

Not to toot my own horn, but yes, my pictures will come out looking like a magazine photo (christ, I hope so now that I've gone all arrogant). I do have to say though, I've seen some great stuff on here. Someone had mentioned night shots and I have to say they're tough. Finding a good location with indirect light is tough. (personally, I've always wanted to fake a break-down in the middle of Market Street in Philly on a busy night and take a long exposure of the car sitting there, with headlights streaking by around the car. As far as a date goes, this Saturday morning works for me. Unfortunately, this Sunday I have obligations but the following weekend I'm totally free.

If you guys want to get a group together, the better for me. Shooting any more than 3-4 cars will be a little tough, due to having to get individual shots in, but we can make it work. We would just have to find a location with lots of shade after 8am or so. Someone had suggested Maple Grove Raceway and Reading Airport. Never seen them, but they sound good.

Maple Grove just gave the OK for the photos. The only problem would be the day/time. He suggested that the best time to do this would be Monday-Firday.

They are looking for cars to photo, not a black box covered in 10,000 coats of Zaino.:shock: The other problem is that your car is soooo shiney they would have to do the shoot in total darkness. :p
