I'm mostly interested in the 3800s but all are welcome to post. I just want to see where everyone else is. If you've had or haven't had problems happen with your drivetrain, that would be good info too.

Rear end was f'ed up when I got it but paid 250 for one and then my clutch finally gave out at 180,002 miles lol. I think my 1/2 syncro is about done also now. I got the car at 131,xxx miles and have preceeded to beat the sh*t out of it every day for 5 years :D

My 3.8 has around 90,000 now and has no drivetrain problems.

Miles: 95,900
Engine: 3.8L V6
Tranny: Automatic

Have not had any major problems. Just bought the car 2 weeks ago and only put 400 miles on it (200 were just driving it home). The owner told me that the car was well taken care of. No major accidents, oil changed every 3k miles, tires rotated every 6k. Before I bought the car it was given a complete tune up, engine flushed and fluids replaced, oil pan re-sealed and a new gasket put on so there is no oil leaks.

I did however notice a rattling coming from the rear of the car. I haven't looked into it yet, but I do see it being much of a problem as of yet because the car just passes Pennsylvania State inspection. Here is a picture of my car.

I took off the front ground effect because it was so badly damaged. I'm getting a new one put on this weekend. After I get the ground effect on, I'm going to give her a bath and then load up my camera with pictures of my new baby!

Purchased the car at 94K miles (most others I looked at were at about 150K... hard to find them with less around here).

I plan on keeping it until 200K, as these cars seem to hold up pretty well.

No leaks or rattles. Very quiet, good ride and the steering is tight. Other than changing the oil, transmission fluid etc. it has needed nothing. :)

put more oil in it. unless you want to do a rebuild. mine isn't so much a leak as a trickle. the oil pan gets greasy, but I never notice the level drop at the dip stick.

Have thus far had to replace: driveshaft, injectors, 2 alternators, head gasket (+ resurface heads), water pump, fuel lines, fuel pump, and a few other things i can't think of at the moment

Needs: oil pan (has gone porous and has a slow leak), find/fix phantom tranny fluid leak, shocks, exhaust...

All told she's cost a lot to repair and keep running (between 5 and 6k), but i swear she gets stronger the more she ages. I can't bear to sell her and pick up a new one!

Lets see where to begin on the problems. They all just started within the past 3k miles. At 115k the transmission locked up, had that replaced. At 117k the starter went out. Now at 118k there is a rod knocking and loss of oil pressure. Currently looking for a used 3.8.

I don't think any of these problems would of happenend besides the starter if i was treating it right. Acted stupid in the car and it is finally starting to catch up. But i can pick up a used 3.8 at junk yards around here for about $300-$500 with 50-65k miles on them.

I just did that one myself a couple of months ago. It really isn't that bad. It's called the Oil Pump Driveshaft Gasket. Don't think it was even 2 bucks at the dealer.

88,000 miles.

Have been having a few problems of late - broken strut mount, needed new struts, new brakes, new starter, new water pump and the latest has been the misfire mess. So... she's been put out to pasture and passed along to the 16 year old who will be driving alot less than I do. Anyone know how to put training wheels on her?

This is a great resource for info! Since he is going to have to learn to fix and maintain it, I'm sure we will be on here quite a bit. His first job is to replace the plugs and wires (his dad, his friend, and his friend's dad have all offered to help) since he doesn't have the $600 the shop wants to fix it. Wish them all luck! I printed out the great misfire mystery for them so at least they'll have a heads up.

As for me, I have moved on to one of those foreign cars we won't mention, but it's cute, small, gets great gas mileage, and with all the driving I do makes more sense. I'm sure I will be borrowing back "my baby" on weekends when I have the chance! :)

Manual tranny
120,000 miles

I bought this with 110,000 on it. The guy before me replaced a water pump recenty and the clutch at 92,000 miles. He beat it I can tell... He had 4 1 or 2 year old tires with a lot of tread still showing except for one of the rear tires... very bald. I have replaced the fuel injectors (SES light) and oil sender. No major problems It burns like 1 quart evry 5000 miles but I dont consider that major since I do an oil change before I have to replace the quart.

No major problems at all with this engine, clutch at 130,000 miles. New tranny at 151,000. I beat on this one. I pulled the motor at 151,000 to put a V-8 (good time to since tranny went out) into it and it ran till 187,000 till someone hit me from behind and totaled it. When I pulled the motor I examined it and have virtually no wear. Mobil 1 its whole life changed every 5000 miles
