LT1 fuel rail covers hardware questions
LT1 fuel rail covers hardware questions
i just picked up a set of used Vette FRCs. ive seen this page...
http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/T...ailcovers.html
i havent even tried to install them yet since i just received them today. my question is, how does the passenger one mount? there are no bolt holes and that site says you need 4 studs total. im a little confused about this. the drivers side has two bolt holes, passenger side has none, and both have 2 plastic tabs that look like the go into holes then it looks like theres 2 clips on each side that snap onto something maybe. really haev no idea. any help is great.thanks

Re: LT1 fuel rail covers hardware questions
you use two of the studs on each side of the intake. i don't have a pic to show you bue you will see two holes about the same size that they goe into. There is one towards the front and another towards that back on each side. If you look at you fuel rails you will see two holes on each side. that is what the plastic tabs go into. If you still can't see the wholes for the studs, once you just place them on and attach them to the fuel rails you will be able to see from the position of the piece where the two studs should go.
Re: LT1 fuel rail covers hardware questions
BTW you know that you are going to have to cut the drivers side one at the back to clear the fuel lines and two small sections on the passangers side for the PVC tube and the alternator bracket
Re: LT1 fuel rail covers hardware questions
they are already cut and were on another camaro so they should be fine. i can understand how the tabs go into the fuel rails but i dont know where the passenger side studs go through the cover itself. its all smooth and there are no holes like there are on the drivers side. sorry maybe im just not thinking about it the right way.lol. thanks though.
Re: LT1 fuel rail covers hardware questions
alright nevermind. i went out and looked at it a little bit. i was under the impression that the holes on top on the drivers side are what you put the studs through, but the studs just like snap in on the bottom if im correct. i understand how it all works now.hehe.
one thing though, how does it fit around the EVAP solenoid? it seems like its RIGHT in the way and cant go under or over it. do you have to take it off the bracket that mounts it to the intake and just shove it underneath it instead of having the solid mount?
also, what is the power steering hose i need? a little confused as to where it need to go that it must be different.

Re: LT1 fuel rail covers hardware questions
You don't need a power steering hose. You're probably thinking of the brake booster hose.
You really don't need any hardware, either. I've had two sets on my car in the past 7 or 8 years and another set on my buddy's car and we've never used the studs. Just push them into the fuel rail holes and you'll be fine.

Re: LT1 fuel rail covers hardware questions
haha. i went to school today and after thinking about it i knew i put power steering. idk why i was thinking that but i meant brake line.hehe. so am i gonna need the brake hose or not? it seems like if i take some things off and work at it for a while they should be fine aside from that EVAP solenoid(anyone know about that). thanks
Re: LT1 fuel rail covers hardware questions
I went to go install mine today, I got the passenger one on but the driver's side is a pain... My car also has ASR which makes it worse. Right now the throttle cable is in the way, it wont fit under the rail, so I guess it will have to go on top...
I am going to try again tomorrow to finish it up....
Which side is the EVAP solenoid on? There was something on the pass side that was in the way, I just bent the bracket down until the cover cleared it.
I also did not buy the p/b hose.. I dont think it is a necessity.

Re: LT1 fuel rail covers hardware questions
i tried putting mine on last night as well, and it was a SOB. i took off all the backets holding the EVAP solenoid and purge control valve and just kinda stuck them in close to the intake. i tried putting them on without the studs and i havent gotten the power brake hose yet. im not sure if ill get any of them yet. my main problem is that stupid huge harness that runs across the back of the intake. i had to zip-tie it so many directions, unplug injectors and switch all the stupid lines that run from that main one in the back. its pretty good now on my passenger side but the drivers side is a BIG SOB! im thinking about cutting that whole corvette logo off in the back because otherwise it wont clear the fuel lines and the rest of that main harness.
Re: LT1 fuel rail covers hardware questions
Got mine finished up today!
The driver's side was a pain.. I was going to cut that whole back piece off also, but I worked it on... I suppose you could cut that off if you think it will help you get it on... I was going to because you can't really even see it anyway and none of the hardware is on that piece...
As far as the fuel lines and wiring harness for the injectors, I basically moved it out of the way, held it with one hand while I installed the cover, and then let it kind of settle back in next to the cover and the fuel lines. To make matters worse my car has ASR which is just more of an installation hassle.
But after a few minutes I got it on there and now it looks pretty good, I am glad I spent the time to do it because it really looks great on the engine. I will have pics next week if anyone wants to see 'em.

Re: LT1 fuel rail covers hardware questions
cool. im gonna try to get mine back on today, ill prolly end up cutting that peice off, but we'll see. once im satisfied with the fit im gonna send them to brent franker for soem silver inlays and ill prolly pull the intake and paint it black. i know it will look sweet but its gonna be a lot of work.
definitley post some pics Dave.

Re: LT1 fuel rail covers hardware questions
i ended up cutting that whole corvette logo part off the back of the drivers side. it ended up being a pretty big PITA but i guess i was a little nervous of cutting to much but they stay on now by just putting the tabs into the fuel rails. if they end up falling off and whatnot ill just get the studs also. o well i still have a lot of stuff to finish up in my engine compartment.
